My heart has been pounding all day long. I'm meeting up with Flower for our date in about fifteen minuets! It's a bit chilly today, around 71 degrees Fahrenheit. I wanted to look my best for my date with Flower, so I put on a pair of ripped skinny jeans, my one inch platform boots, and a comfy black hoodie. It's cute, but also casual.
I took a little extra time to style my hair, and put on a bit of mascara and eyeliner; just to make sure I'm looking my best. I look at the time on my phone, and gasp at fast the time flew. "I cant be late! I don't want her to think I stood her up!" I shout. I grab my keys to my apartment, and double check my appearance in the mirror, before darting out the door.
I rush over to the beach, nearly breaking my ankles several times. "Goddamn it, (Reader)! Now's not the time to be clumsy!" I scold myself. I run as fast as my legs will let me run, before I finally get to the beach. I stand in front of the beach, still on the road. One step and I'll be in the beach. I pant while walking down to the area Flower said she'll be in. "I hope we were talking about the same beach." I wheeze. "That's great. I'm all sweaty because I had to run here. Why didn't I just get Uber?" I ask myself.
I stop and check my phone. "No! I'm ten minuets late!" I cry. I lightly jog to where Flower is, and to my delight I see her sitting on a blanket laid out on the sand. "Flower?" I pant. "(Reader)! I was starting to think you weren't going to show up." She giggles. Her giggle makes my heart soar, it's like the giggle of a goddess!
Once I catch my breath, I look at Flower and smile. "There's no way I wouldn't show up. A first date with you is like a once in a life time opportunity." I wink at her, hopping it adds a little charm; and to my delight, Flower laughs. She smiles brightly at me, before remembering something. "Oh! On my way here I passed this really good Boba place. So I stopped to get us some. I didn't know what kind you like, so I just got you the raspberry one. I hope you like it." Flower smiles as she hands me the drink.
I gently take it from her, my hand brushing against hers for a brief moment. I take a sip of the bubble tea, and smile. "It's really good. Thank you so much!" I smile at her, while sitting down next to her on the blanket. "You really didn't need to get me anything." Flower turns and smiles at me, while running a hand through her hair. "I thought it would've been rude if I had gotten one for myself, and didn't get you one as well."
I smile, my cheeks a rosy shade of pink. I look down at my cup, running my thumb along the lid. "So. Do you like the beach?" Flower asks, breaking the awkward silence that was about to ensue. "I love the beach. I remember my Grandfather would take me here anytime he came home. I was his only Granddaughter." I ramble. "He used to sing me all these songs whenever I was falling asleep. He'd sing me to sleep whenever he came home from being out at sea."
"You must really love your Grandfather, huh? Do you still come to the beach with him?" Flower asks, her voice sweet and gentle. "He passed away two years ago." I look down. "Oh. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean-"
"You didn't know. It's okay. And thank you for your condolences." I smile at her. She looks so remorseful. 'Maybe I should hug her? Let her know I'm not upset with her?' I think to myself. A strong gust of wind blows across the beach, and I let out a shiver. I thought it was gonna be a little warmer. But my phone says the temperature dropped to 59 degrees. "Are you cold?" Flower asks. "No. I'm okay." I shiver.
My heart beats faster, as Flower puts one of her arms around me. She pulls me close to her and I snuggle into her warmth. "Is it alright if I do this?" She asks. "Yeah. I like it." I smile. I set my now finished Boba on the ground, and wrap both my arms around Flower's waist. "You're so warm." I mumble. "Thank you." She giggles in response. "This is nice. I didn't expect it to go so well." I speak. "Expect what to go so well?" She asks, innocence lacing her voice. "The date. I'm not good at them, I thought I'd be a nervous wreck. But you're so easy to feel comfortable around."
I look up at her, and see a look of tranquility on her face. "You're easy to feel comfortable around too. I'm not good at first dates, either." She looks at me. I flash a quick, heartfelt smile at her. "What about you. Do you like the beach?" I ask, staring at the water. "Yeah. I love the beach, and the ocean. I love swimming. But I think it's a tad too cold to go swimming right now." She giggles.
"Do you have any hobbies?" I ask, staring at the waves. "I like gaming. Swimming. Singing and dancing is something I've always adored doing."
"Oh! Can I hear you sing?" I sit up, pulling away from her warmth. "I'm afraid I'm a bit shy when it comes to singing." She gives me a awkward half smile. "That's okay. Maybe I can hear it some other time." I reassure her, trying my absolute hardest to sound calming. "Maybe. What about you? What're some of your hobbies?" She asks, turning her body to face me. "Mine? Let's see. Gaming, for sure. I like art, and drawing. I find cooking to be kind of fun when I know what I'm doing. Swimming is nice too." I check the time on my phone after watching the sun set. I gasp at how late it had gotten
Flower is just so easy to talk to that I completely lost track of time. "I'm so sorry, but I've gotta go! It's late and I've got work tomorrow." I speak in a frantic tone. "Oh, that's alright. We spent a good couple hours together. It was fun." Flower smiles, while helping me get my things. "It was fun. Do you think we can do this again? Like, go on a second date?" I look her deep in the eyes.
"I would love to go on a second date with you. Just text me and we can work something out." She flashes her wonderful smile at me. "Awesome!" I shout, louder than I intended to sound. She giggles. "Do you think we could end this date with a kiss?" She asks. Her cheeks turn a slight rosy shade of pink. I slowly nod my head. I walk up to her, and she cups my face gently. She pulls me in and places her lips upon mine.
