Chapter 4: There is evil in this world

There is evil in this world.
Death and pain spread.
Love is vulnerable and sometimes fails to repels.
Hiding is not a choice and darkness has taken his faith.
The reality is inconceivable
How do I face it ? How do I go on again ?

I opened my eyes and looked. The light was too bright. My eyes felt heavy. My body was numb.I tried to make sense of where I was, but my thoughts were not clear. A stranger face approached me.

"Hello! Welcome back. Can you see me ? Can you hear me okay ? " she asked.
I tried to answer her, as flashes of memories were passing through my mind.

" My name is Namid and I'm your nurse. You were in a car accident yesterday. Do you remembered ? Your safe now. Everything is going to be alright. We are taking good care of you. " the woman said.

" The shadow. It was there. He saw it. I saw it ! " I tried to explained anxiously.
"Ssh, it's okay. Try to relax. Here,this is going to help you. You will be feeling much better soon." She said as she put a syringe needle on my IV.
I felt sleepy and as much as I fighted my eyes closed.

It was dark and foggy. Alexander was standing behind a tree. I heard him sobbed as he said; " I will never leave you alone Emma, I promise." and soon, he was gone. I screamed, come back but my voice was very low. Then I tried again.
" Come back ! " I woked up screaming.

" Emma, I'm here ! It's okay. I'm with you. " Maggie said as she tried to calm me down. For a moment, I felt relieved that I was awake. It was just a bad dream, but I was still at the hospital.

" I'm right here. " she said.
" Maggie ! "
" What happened ? Where is Alexander ? Is he okay ? " I desperately asked.

" I can't tell you about Alex until you come down. " " Let me call the nurse." said Maggie.
Soon the nurse walked into the room with a doctor. He started to do a check up on me and he said that as a result of the car accident I had suffered a trauma on my right arm. I looked down and I noticed I had a cast.

"You are very lucky Miss. Luna. " the doctor replied.
" You went through six hours of surgery but everything went well. You are young and healthy, so I expect you to have a good recovery if you follow my instructions. I will keep you under pain medication and antibiotic for about a week. Then you can go home and finish your recovery.
I understand that you might be feeling confused and have questions. If there's anything else that I could help you with, please let me know or notify Namid. She'll be taking care of you. " the doctor informed me.

" Thank you, doctor. " " Do you know anything about my fiance' ? " I asked.
" I'm sorry Miss. Luna but any questions on personal matters I'll leave it to your friend Maggie. Excused me." the doctor said as he walked away with the nurse.

The room was quite. Maggie looked at me with fear on her eyes.
" Okay Maggie, talk to me please. Please Mag. "
" Emma, I need you to be strong right now. I wish I didn't have to ask you this but I need you to try and remember what happened after the party when you and Alexander left. " Maggie said.

" Alex and I tooked a walk at a park on our way out of Portland, then we drove toward Sandy." I said slowly.
" He saw that thing ! That's when he lose control of the car, Maggie ! " " Then, I remembered waking up in pain and alone. The door from his side was opened." I cried. "Is he badly hurt? "

" We don't know, Emma. " she said.
" What? What do you mean ? I questioned.
" On the morning after the party, someone that was driving by that street found you on the car, unconscious and alone." said Maggie.
I felt uneasy. My heart was palpitating fast and then she continues.
" When the authorities found out that Alexander was missing from the crash scene, they thought that he probably got confused and walked to the woods and got lost." Polices and park rangers has been searching since then, even Rick had joined them. They haven't found him.
