Anything To Forget

Leon stood in front of a club he had never been to before. Despite being here for 6 months, Leon didn't exactly go partying. He's really only been in clubs and bars if Claire dragged him into them. So this was a new experience for him. He stood outside for about 10 minutes before he finally mustered up the courage to actually walk inside. So far this was not fun. Thanks Claire.

Was he an idiot for trying to do this?

This was way out of his wheelhouse.

Fuck it, have fun, Claire said. So he would try.

He pushed open the door of the club and walked inside. He blinked a few times, getting used to the darkness inside. There were dance lights sure, but overall the atmosphere was a lot darker than it was outside, even though it was pitch black out.

There were a ton of people inside too, all dancing and drinking and grinding up on each other. Yeah, Leon felt way out of his element here. He approached the bar, hoping to get a little confidence booster. Luckily a nice spot in the corner was empty for him. He took a seat and looked to the bartender.

"Evening" He said over the music, mentally cringing at himself. The bartender chuckled at him, like it was funny that he said that to him.

"Evening to you too." Leon noted his features. He was tall, definitely taller than Leon. He had dark hair, and dark eyes, and was wearing a classic bartender outfit, vest and bowtie and all. That's all Leon could really make out, due to how dark the club was. Overall mysterious demeanor. Leon cleared his throat and continued to speak over the loudness of the club,

"It's loud!" He practically yelled. The bartender leaned over the top of the bar closer to Leon,

"It's a club! They tend to be like that!" Leon felt the familiar feeling of embarrassment creep up in him,

"This isn't really my kind of scene!" Leon felt himself leaning in too. He tried to dig himself out of the hole he had just dug. The bartender smiled at him,

"Really! I couldn't tell!" The bartender leaned back and started pouring him a shot of something Leon couldn't make out. Probably vodka with his luck. He slid the shot across the bar over to Leon.

"On the house! Loosen up and see if you like it!" Leon eyed the shot suspiciously,

"Relax! You saw me pour it!" Leon's shoulders relaxed,

"Fine!" He grabbed the shot and put it to his lips. He paused a moment before swallowing it in one go, wincing at the taste and the burn down his throat. The bartender was looking at him amused and Leon thought that was a very similar look Ada had given him when they had met up. In this moment he was sick of that look. Like he was some inexperienced kid that needed to be taught. Granted, he was inexperienced, but that look they gave him made it painfully obvious to him. He tapped the shot glass on the table,

"Give me another." He said with an exhale. The bartender cocked an eyebrow in surprise, Leon felt good about that surprise.

   "Sure you can handle it?"

"It's fine." The bartender simply shrugged and poured him another, sliding it over to him again. Leon took that shot in a much cooler manner, hopefully giving that impression to the man across the bar. He stood up a little too fast, and grabbed onto the bar.

"I'm going to go have fun!" He shouted to the bartender and went off into the crowd.

The alcohol hit Leon faster than anticipated. It wasn't long until he was dancing in the crowd like he didn't have a care in the world, which, because of his drunken state of mind, he truly felt like he didn't. He could almost forget Ada. The man who had served him those shots was cleaning a pint glass behind the counter, watching him from a distance. There was a slight smile on his face as if he was proud of Leon or something.
