Ada continued to sit at the bar that night, occasionally checking her phone to see if she missed a call from Leon. Damn. She hadn't expected him to actually hold out once she gave him the phone number.
She's never been duped like this before. She's gone through a couple drinks at this point, due to the pure shock of Leon rejecting her.
Surely he'll call.
Surely he still wants her.
A new bartender had shown up, so she was able to casually converse with her without worrying. The drinks made Ada a little too chatty.
"At first I just thought he was some kid that would unknowingly help me with my work. And then I saw him again and something stirred in me I didn't know was there." The bartender sat there quietly, listening. Ada chuckled dryly against her drink glass,
"And what do you know, he does have a little bit of a spine." She took a sip,
"I guess I should be careful. It would be a shame to lose him." She paused, a blush appearing on her face. The bartender gave her a look,
"What? Just because... the sex is good." Another look from the bartender. Ada looked sheepish for once in her life,
"... he stood up to me. And protected me for no damn reason." She took another sip and paused.
"I don't deserve to be loved by him."

By the time Leon woke up, he had only slept about 3 hours. Absolutely ridiculous, but he couldn't help but debate with himself all night.
Call Ada
Don't call Ada
Leon, call her.
No Leon, you're mad at her remember?
All of you shut the fuck up and go to sleep.
Needless to say, he didn't.
Leon looked over at his phone, turning it on to look at the time. 8 in the goddamn morning. He restlessly kicked the sheets off his legs and swung them over the side of the bed, rubbing his eyes. He was so tired but with the light coming in from the window, and his racing mind, there was no way he was going to sleep today either.
His plan was to let Ada wait a little while longer. He wouldn't call her until tonight. If he managed to last that long.
He pulled some clothes out of the dresser while muttering to himself,
"I'll show you Ada, that I'm not some fucking kid."

Leon distracted himself throughout the day with a deck of cards he found in the nightstand. But he honestly couldn't keep still. As soon as the sun began to set and whipped out his phone and dialed the number Ada had given him. If she picked up, maybe he would forgive her. If she didn't. Then that was that, and Leon would have to live with his actions forever.
Leon nearly threw up when the call connected,
"You really know how to make a girl wait, don't you?" Her voice sounded so lovely over the phone. Leon's mind was full of the memory of the last phone call they had. Leon paused a moment, collecting himself.
"I'll meet with you Ada." He swallowed nervously,
"Great, I'll-" Leon cut her off,
"I'm not done. I'll meet with you, but on my terms. Not yours." Silence on the other line.
