You had been unlucky in the past when it came to love. It was always something that didn't work. At times it was silly but mostly, you never really understood what guys really wanted. I mean what do guys really want? This question seemed way more complicated than the history question paper. Your past experiences had made a big mess in your life and left you heartbroken. You were trying really hard to get over him. After a long, overanalyzed, self critical thought, you had come to a conclusion that you needed to switch off your emotions and take a step into the casual space. You had never tried this before but you decided to give this a shot. You had found a guy named Justin on a dating app and had entered into the casual space with him. Things seemed fine. You had just done it twice but the taste of zero dramas kept you motivated. You enjoyed not getting your feelings involved for once. Although, connections like these are temporary. But the feeling of craving for somebody lasts longer. Everything has pros and cons. And this was a con. In the end, we all are humans and we need a human touch to survive. You knew it was somewhere unhealthy but it was better than being heartbroken. So you kept going.

It had been long since you met Justin. Life, in general, kept you busy. You were planning a trip with your friends but sadly, they insisted on bringing their spouses and you had to gulp down the thought of being the only single girl left in the group. It bothered you sometimes because the wounds of the last breakup were still fresh. Trying to pay less heed to this one thought which had the potential to transform itself into overthinking, you continued making the plan. After a good four days, your plan was ready, tickets were booked and you had arrived at your desired destination. This was exactly what you were looking for. You hoped that a change of scenery might change your mood. You were trying to make the most of this trip.

The next place you were supposed to go to required a short bus trip. You were sitting alone, enjoying the view outside the window. Your friends were sitting with their spouses. You had earphones on and the soothing music made the view outside even more beautiful. You were having fun. The bus halted and picked up a few passengers from another stop. You were lost in your thoughts when suddenly a stranger sat beside you and you turned to see who it was. Your eyes widened when you saw him. It was Justin. He was lost in his phone, had earphones on and was probably listening to some rap music because that's what he was into. He didn't notice you when he sat beside you. You were shocked for a brief moment before you gathered yourself and tapped on his shoulder. He looked at you and you saw the same expression on his face that you had a while back.

"Heyyy! (Y/N). What a pleasant surprise! What are the chances? This is so good"

"Heyy Justin! I know, right? What are you doing here?"

"Oh I'm on a trip with my best friend and his wife. So being alone sucks. They insisted and also, this trip was not worth missing so I'm here."

"Being alone doesn't suck always. Who knows? A cute stranger might come and sit next to you and you can't help but have inappropriate thoughts about them!"

"I see! (Y/N) you do have a point. Especially when the cute stranger is having the same thoughts about you!"

"Well doesn't the universe work in mysterious ways? Also, I'm here with my married friends, too. They can't go a single day without their spouses. I wanted a trip just with my friends but they brought their partners along. Couldn't say no. But this trip was needed so I'm here"

"Damn that's too mysterious. This does sound too synced. I'm glad I found you here."

"I'm glad too. Just look at the view outsi-"

"I'm sorry but why was this trip needed? Too much stress?".

"Yeah. Going through a breakup. I'm over the guy but not over the hurt. Needed a change so planned this trip."

"I'm sorry (Y/N). What happened? And how recent is this?"

"He lacked communication and I became insecure. Things went bad after that. It has been two months."

"That's very fresh. I'm sorry you had to experience that. Also coming from a guy who had his heart broken, too."

"Yes, I remember. You had told me how your last relationship messed you up. I don't think I'll ever be able to experience the same kind of feelings towards somebody else. The hurt has made me so numb. No matter how nice guys are, I don't feel anything at all."

"I know the feeling. It just makes you feel indifferent. Can't deal with it, can't let it go either."

"Maybe that is why we found each other. You were the first and the only guy I had a casual thing with. And honestly, it's best for me."

"I agree. It's best for me, too. Especially because our thoughts match the same wavelength."

You looked at him and smiled after hearing this. He looked at you and smiled back while he held your hand. The temporary comfort was back and you were relieved for a while.
