AN: Honestly, this is just a bunch of trivia about how this reality works and what you need to know about witches/warlocks, or as known universally, casters.
P.S. There's no real reason for the music, I just like it and thought it was fitting.

The world once feared casters, witches and warlocks, until a witch called Cordelia stepped forward and proposed a solution. For casters to become soldiers and fight alongside humans, except against one another. While skeptical, humanity agreed and the Magic Alliance Treaty is formed.

Centuries later, the Garrison is a military school that's divided into two categories. Regular human military, including optional space travel, and the magic division for witches and warlocks, which also includes the option of space travel.

A way to tell the difference between the sections is by their uniforms. The human uniforms are colored with orange, while magic-wielder uniform are colored white. Witch Admiral Sanda, is a high-ranking official at the Garrison, for magic, and a direct descendant of Cordelia herself.

While both are similar in outward appearances, humans and casters are in fact two very different species. A caster typically has to be born into a caster family in order to have any powers. Though there are cases of humans and casters mingling together. Originally, this act was forbidden, but after centuries it became allowed.

In the days before the treaty, casters were persecuted, even executed, even when only suspected of witchcraft. This was the time of The Witch Trials, where casters, sometimes even humans, were brutally killed. Burned at the stake, hanged by the neck, dunked and drown in water, or even crushed by stones. While the world has evolved since then, there are still those who're prejudiced against casters.

In this world, magic is a powerful force only witches and warlocks can harness and wield to their will, while humans have no abilities for it. This is because a caster is born with a second heart, a so-called Magic Heart, that allows a caster to produce and channel magic as easily as humans can breathe. A magic heart is located between a caster's stomach, lungs and spine.

When a caster is born, they have a birthmark of a flower bud somewhere on their body, which represents their virginity. When a caster loses their virginity, their flower blooms, representing they've fully matured. Depending on the caster, their magic can either weaken or strengthen when their flower blooms.

Casters typically manifest their powers through thought, spoken words and/or will. With words, it is often called Witch/Warlock Voice. Though there are some casters who use herbs, potions and magical tools, such as poppets, wands or staffs. Then there are also tomes, spell books and magical scripts as well. Some casters have familiars, but that practice fell out of sorts a few decades back.
