One month later....

"Good morning, Sunshine," said a voice right next to Rosie.

"Uhhhh..." Rosie groaned.

"Come on," the voice said. "Get up."

"Why?" Rosie murmured.

"Because we have royal duties to attend to," said the voice, annoyingly reasonable.

"I hate being a princess," Rosie complained.

"There's a rug!" the voice tried.

"Ooooh!" Rosie squealed, jumping out of bed and onto the floor. "A rug!"

"Is it soft enough, your highness?" asked the voice.

"It's perfect, Matt!" Rosie grinned and danced around on the rug.

"Good," Matt replied. "Now let's go eat breakfast."

"Oh, let's!" Rosie agreed. "I'm starving!"

Rosie pulled a robe on over her pale pink nightgown.

Matt held out an arm and Rosie took it. They walked down the stone halls toward the dining room.

"So what is it with you and rugs?" Matt asked as they approached the dining room.

"Well," Rosie started. "It's just that everyone has a rug. No matter how poor or rich you are, you probably have at least one rug. I've had so many sleepovers with country girls like Jenny and Mikayla. And do you know what I slept on? Rugs!"

"I see," Matt said, stifling a laugh. He opened the door to the dining room and burst out laughing.

"What?" Rosie exclaimed. "I just like rugs!"

"Okay, I lied," Matt laughed. "I don't see. But I'll accept it. Alright?"

"Fine," Rosie scowled. Matt laughed, and she crinkled her nose at him. He kissed her nose.

"Well, that's adorable," commented Neva.

"Neva, hush!" Olivia scolded.

"Hello, you two," Rosie greeted. "How are you?"

"We're fine, Miss Rosie," Neva replied. "And you two?"

"Fine," Matt answered, pulling out a chair for Rosie. She sat down, and Matt circled the table to sit across from her.

Just then, Jenny burst in, with Aidan and Mikayla hot on her heels.

"Rosie! Rosie! You'll never believe what just happened!" Jenny panted.

"Oh my goshness, I still don't believe it!" Mikayla cried.

"What happened?" Rosie asked.

"Is anyone hurt?" Matt added.

"No, thank goshness!" Jenny sighed.

"But someone almost was!" Mikayla shrieked.

"What?!" Rosie and Matt exclaimed at the same time. Everyone began to talk over one another.

"Everyone, calm down!" Aidan bellowed at the top of his lungs.

That made everyone freeze. They all looked at him.

"Thank you," he sighed. "Now, do you want to hear what happened?"

"Yes!" Neva squealed.

"Neva, hush," Olivia scolded. "What happened, sir Aidan?"
