inspired by the chapter 'For what it's worth' from Deadly Mind.

the most vulnerable time is the day. the time when the "sun is shining" scaldingly and "smiling brightly" in mockery. when it is time to leave the gracious embrace of the night and the occasional slumber it brings, complete with entire universes brimming with life which we all know as dreams and nightmares. the light exposes the safest of sanctuaries, signalling the (hopefully) temporary halt of our peace and our music of silence and the beginning of yet another day of toil and synchronised chaos. the damned hours are just another day that passes, a symbol of just how fast time flies, and a reminder of the dreaded arrival of the oncoming future.
