"Once upon a time, there was a girl, named Rose..."
---------------------
Rose's POV
The alarm clock went off, I stretched before jumping out of my bed. I stretched a bit more before jumping around my room. I always had so much energy when I woke up, I had to lose part of it immediately.
"Rose, breakfast!" Dad shouted from the kitchen.
"Coming!" I looked at the clothes in my closet. I frowned as I was wondering what I would be wearing today. I often spent too much time in front of my closet, it was a bit embarrassing.
When I finally decided what to wear, I left my bedroom and hopped to the kitchen. "Hey dad," I kissed dad's cheek. "Hey papa," I kissed papa's cheek. I sighed as I sat down. "I'm here."
"We can see that," Dad smiled at me. "Did you sleep well?"
I nodded while I looked at papa. He was making an omelet. "It smells amazing, papa."
Papa smiled at me. "It's almost ready, princess."
I smiled back before looking at dad again. "I wish it was the weekend again," I let out a breath. "I loved visiting granny. Oh and pops showed me how to find edible plants in nature, and - "
"Rose," Dad said, putting a stop to my waterfall of words. "We were there too," He smiled a bit. "It was nice indeed, we'll go back soon."
"Promise?"
"Of course," He smiled at me but then looked at papa who was serving the omelet. "That looks delicious, babe."
Papa went to sit down. "I hope everyone's hungry because I've made way too much." He laughed right after.
Dad and I laughed too as we knew papa was joking again.

I was by the front door, making my backpack for the day.
"Here you go, princess," Papa said as he handed me my lunch. "I've put extra cheese."
I smiled at him. "Thanks, papa." I put it away and hugged him tightly.
"So do you have everything else?" Dad asked as he walked to us.
"Yeah," I took my jacket and put it on. "I'm ready to go," I then looked outside before looking back at them. "Now I wait for my ride."
Dad and papa looked at each other.
I immediately could tell they were thinking about something. "What is it?"
"Honey," Dad started. "We're happy you have a friend," He smiled, as did papa. "But why don't you introduce him to us?"
I shrugged. "He's not really my friend." He really wasn't, Naheed was a guy from my class. He suggested he could drive me to school because he passes my house on his way to school. I gladly accepted his offer, mainly because it's good for the environment.
"So if he's not your friend," Dad asked, I could tell he was trying to hint at something. "Then what is he?"
"Is he maybe your boyfriend?" Papa asked, making my cheeks redden.
"What?! No!" I gulped and looked away. I felt so embarrassed. "No, he isn't!"
"Honey, we - "
"I've got to go." I took my backpack and left. I didn't even wait for them to reply, I didn't even wait for Naheed. I just left.

I arrived at school, a bit later than usual. Thankfully, I had plenty of time left before classes would start.
I walked to my locker and took the books I'd need for the day.
"Rose?"
I closed my locker and saw Naheed. "Hey, Naheed."
"Where were you?" He held his arms sideways, showing he was confused. "I was waiting by your house for 15 minutes."
I sighed. "I'm sorry," I looked down. "My fathers were annoying me."
He raised his eyebrows. "Like what?"
I shrugged. "It doesn't matter," I looked at him. "How about I get you something for lunch, my treat?"
He showed me a small smile. "Sure," He patted my shoulder before walking away. "See you then."
I nodded and watched him walk to his friends. I sighed and walked to class.
During lunch, Naheed had gotten himself a donut. He could've gotten anything but chose that. He also enjoyed it immensely. It was almost disturbing to see him devour that thing.
"That seems like a really good donut." I said, I couldn't hide the fact I was a bit uncomfortable.
"Yep," He said with his mouth filled, parts of donut spilled out. "Amazing!"
"Babe," Dara, Naheed's girlfriend, said. "You're spilling food again..."
Naheed gulped loudly. "Sorry," He looked at me. "It was really good, Rose, thanks."
"My pleasure." I smiled a bit.
"So how was your day?" Naheed asked Dara. They huddled closer to each other, speaking softly. They were looking at each other, right in the eyes. They were so close, yet neither of them seemed uncomfortable.
I gulped. "I have to go," I said and got up. "I'll see you guys later." I then left without waiting for their response.
I walked through the hallways. I was looking down, not really paying attention to where I was heading to. I was deep in thoughts. I wondered how it would feel like: to fall in love. I have never been in love, I never had a crush on someone, but I longed for it. It's odd how you can desire something you have never experienced.
I tried before, to fall in love. I tried to have feelings for people. Unfortunately, it never worked. It didn't work for guys, it didn't work for girls. However, I knew I preferred girls over guys. I think...
I walked to the art classroom. It was empty at this point since everyone was eating lunch. I sighed and looked around, then my eyes landed on an empty sketchbook. I looked at it for a while before walking to it.
I observed the empty page for a while. Ideas were going through me. I took a pencil and, without thinking, I let my hands go freely over the canvas. At that moment, it seemed like time had stopped and I was just on my own.
After some time, I stopped. I let out a breath, I didn't know I was holding in, and took a step back. I looked at what I had drawn. I sighed deeply. I just couldn't figure out what it was supposed to mean. Here I thought I had put my feelings on this paper, yet I can't even understand it. I guess even my drawing was confused...
I sighed and left the art classroom.
