"Amma, enakku oru chinna project work matiri irukku…. Naan ange breakfast sapiduren. Neega pack panni kudunga", Mani Megalai said casually to her mother as she placed her bag on the kitchen counter.
Her mother, who was facing the stove, turned to look at her daughter and she was amazed at her new look. "Ellai Megala, ennadi ithu kolam?!", Deepa asked in a surprised tone. Mani Megalai, who was a little thrown back, composed herself. "Yen Maa? En look ku enna koraichal nu kekkuren… Azhaga thane irukken".
"Athu illa… Nee ippadi college koda kilamba maatiye, ippo enguthu pora?", Deepa questioned. "Athan sonnene maa. College project work vishayam thaan veliya poga poren nu", she lied while praying to God that her mother should believe her lie. Her mother was a person who could detect a lie quickly. Especially when it comes to Mani Megalai.
While Deepa was thinking, Ashwin entered the kitchen saying "Athu ellam onnum illa Maa…. Boyfriend ooda veliya suttha pora. Athan ippadi jingu jingu nu kilambita". Megalai gave him an annoyed look. "Ennathu??!!! Boyfriend ah!!?? Ennada soldra?!! Ennadi ithu ellam!?", Deepa was shocked.
"Avan thaan summave avala noduvan nu theriyum la…. Apram ethuku intha shock reaction unakku?", Baskar also entered the kitchen questioning his wife. "Illanga… Iva eppothume ippadi engume kilamba maatale, ippo ippadi kilambi irukka… Athaan ketten"
"Appa, college la oru chinna project work kuthuthu irukkaga. Athuku vera oru college ku poganum. Namba pora college na paravala. Etha makeup podame pogalam. But vera college ku pogum pothu konjam nalla dress panna thaane nalla irukkum", she said to Baskar. "Naan thaan sonnala… Vera college paiyana sight adikathuku ennama poi soldranga paarunga paa", Ashwin said while pushing away her handbag which was on the kitchen counter and sat beside it.
"Dei Ashwin! Summa irunthuru… Illana etha kondu adipen nu theriyathu… Unkitta naan sonnena, paiyangala sight adika naan ippadi dress panni irukken nu… Pesaame irunthuru", Megalai had nearly shouted at him. "Ohhhh… Adiciruviya Enna?! Vaa, vanthu adi vaa", Ashwin went forward as he was ready for a fight.
Baskar and Deepa just looked at each other's faces. They knew that they had to stop this fight or else it would grow big. "Ellai!! Sanda podathigala…." Deepa exclaimed and the siblings stopped arguing.
"Seri maa… Project work ah thaane pora… Poitu Vaa…", Baskar said. "Appa, poi sodra paa", Ashwin said. "Dei nee summa iru… Ava thaan soldrala Project Work nu…. Aparam yen thevaiye illama pirachanai pannikittu irukka…. Po, poi sapidu", Baskar said to Ashwin.
"Appa, Innoru vishayam… Naaney car oothithu porene…. Pls paa", Megalai said. Baskar was actually shocked and was wondering why she had asked like this. But before he could deny it, Ashwin intrupped. "Paarunga… Oor suthurathuku car venum nu kekkura. Kudukaathiga, avlothaan sollithen"
Basker, who was tired of their silly arguments, wanted it to stop. "Dei, naan thaan unna thalai ida vendam nu sonnala…. Apram yen thevaiye illama unga akka va korai solliten irukka". He turned towards his daughter and said "Seri maa… Neeye car edhukuthu poo. Batharama poitu vaa"
Mani Megalai's happiness knew no boundaries. She just felt like flying in the sky. She was so happy but had to compose it into herself and acted normal. "Seri paa, Thanks 🤗. Amma appa naan poitu varen…. Time agiduchu", she said in hurry. "Aana nee sapidave illaye maa", her mother said worriedly and started to put breakfast on a plate.
"Aiyoo Maa, paravala….. Naan ange poi sapiduren. Enakku oru pirachanaiyum illa", she said as she came out of the kitchen and took the keys to her car.
"Parthu oothu Maa", Baskar said, being worried for his daughter's safety. He never wanted his children to not be independent and only be dependent on him. But just because he was worried so much about their safety, he didn't let his children touch the vehicle. Other than that, he wanted his children to be as independent as he is.
"Appa, naan nalla thaan oothuven. Neega kavala pathathiga", she said with a bright smile on her face. Her parents followed her to the parking lot. She opened the front door of her car and sat in the driver's seat. It's been months since she had driven her car and she's been dreaming of it everyday. While taking a deep breath, she inserted the keys and started the engine.
She was about to bid goodbye to her parents when her brother came there. "Hello Madam. Intha maranthutu poringa", he showed her handbag. She mentally hit her brain for forgetting it. "Aama da maranthuthen! Kudu daa", she took her bag from his hands.
"Seri Appa Amma, poitu varen. Bye 😊", she bid goodbye to her parents. "Poitu varen da dei", she said to her brother as well. "Po aana varathey", Ashwin teased her. "Ivaiga sanda ya marupadiyum arambichitaga. Vaanga namba pesame veethukulla poiruvom", Deepa said while taking her husband with her into the house.
Mani Megalai started to drive the car and stopped in front of the big gate of their house and waited for the gate to open. While waiting for it, she saw her brother standing through the side mirror of her car. She let her right hand out and showed a thumbs up to him. Ashwin also showed thumbs up with both of his hands.
It was all their plan. Their senseless fights and silly arguments were all the plan of Ashwin. Even him denying to let her go out was his plan. Ashwin knew that if he denies something for Mani Megalai, for sure their father will let her have it. It has been happening since their childhood. He will always be upset about it. But this time he used it as an advantage for his sister. And that's his love for her. Megalai understood it. Even if her brother seems like he never cared about her, he will definitely come to her rescue whenever she's in trouble. With those thoughts on her mind and a beaming smile on her face, she began to drive the car towards her wish - The Audition.
