Ellie was sound asleep once again, on Fred's bed this time.

The thought of Ellie being sad, and seeking comfort in the bed of her best friend, who's corpse had recently been paraded in front of her made the boy feel desperately sad.

This poor girl, she really had had it the worst out of all of them.

And the evidence was right in front of him. Her skinny frame, her pale face, the small scar under her eye from when Draco had decided to take his anger out on her. It was also in the way she carried herself the way she spoke, or how she didn't speak. This girl was always talking, singing, giggling previously, but this year had destroyed her.

He can remember that time she arrived back at Hogwarts after the Quidditch World Cup. She had a smile on her face, but Fred couldn't get over how broken she looked. He wished to never see anyone that scarred ever again, never mind the girl he was smitten over.

Yet here they are, after an abusive relationship, a suicide attempt and a friends tragic death. What the hell happened.

Fred wasn't a crier, he wasn't typically emotional, in front of anyone anyway. But he couldn't stand to look at her anymore. He felt a little selfish, but it hurt too much, he needed escape.

Before he could ever turn to leave, he heard light chattering from behind him. The two voices were instantly recognisable to him, his brother and their fellow Gryffindor. George and the Malfoy girl, the only member of that family that he could stand, let alone trust.

"Hey Freddo," Rhianna said, thinking she was funny.

"Hey mate, is that Ellie," George cheered excitedly, missing his little friend.

But there wasn't a reply, no bullying comment aimed at the icy blonde who had just called him a muggle chocolate frog, Ellie and Hermoine's favorite, to be exact.

He didn't even turn to face them, not straight away. All they could hear was the heavy breathing of the sleeping girl, and sniffing that the pair by the door couldn't pin on who was making the sound.

That was until they walked over, the brother placing a hand on the other, right on his broad shoulder, that was abruptly shrugged off, much to the surprise of the pair.

"Freddie, w-whats wrong?"

George reaches for the boy again, in the same place, turning him to face his identical twin.

And there it was, the look in his eyes that told George he was losing it.

George had only seen this pain in Fred's eyes once before...

It was a casual Tuesday at Hogwarts, slightly rainy and very average. The pair had just been in a double period with Snape, one that they dreaded every time they saw it in their timetable. What made matters worse is that Ellie had recently moved classes, due to Herbology club being at the same time. As adorable as he found Ellie's weekly gifts of plants for random members of their little friend group. This week being his turn to receive one, he was very bummed out that he had to miss out on her, in an already tedious class.

In fact, he had just received his little potted plant from the girl, a baby Mimbulus Mimbletonia, when he received the news.

Ellie had just waved goodbye, blowing the boys each a kiss that made him swoon, before McGonagall came running over.
