My eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the sunlight that shone through my curtains. I hit the off button on my alarm clock and sat up. Feeling more tired than usual, I got up and stretched my arms in an awkward postition.
I walked across my room, and into the bathroom, pulling my long, dirty blonde hair into a side braid. Going over to the tub, I grabbed the face wash that was sitting in the corner. Splashing water over my cheeks to try and help myself wake up a bit.
When I finished I walked out of the bathroom, and put on my work uniform. A cherry red long sleeved shirt, black leggings and my sneakers. I went back into the bathroom, putting light makeup over my face not trying to impress anyone. I looked up into the rectangle mirror approving of my appearance, then going downstairs, slowly, still a little tired.
"Good morning Derek."
"Good morning. Do you want me too make you some coffee?" He asked.
"I'm fine thanks. I have to be at work in ten minutes, do you think you could drive me?"
"Yeah sure. I don't have to be at work until eleven today anways. Should we leave now?"
"Um yeah." I grabed my purse, and looked inside, making sure I have everything. We walked out of the door, and I slid into the passenger side of Derek's car.
I pulled out my phone, and turned it on, trying to find something to do while we drove. I had four text messages, and a missed call. Desseray, my best friend, had texted me and asked if we could hang out this weekend. I wasn't sure yet, so I just ignored the message.
We didn't talk the whole drive. I wondered what was up with him.Could it be because of my attitude last night? He had one too, so it can't be.
"Bye Derek," I said, as we pulled up to the employee entrance of Genies.
"Bye, love you." Closing the passenger door, I slowly walked through the door, and to my locker, dropping my purse and belongings inside, swapping them for my apron and tying it into a knot around my waist.
By the register my friend Kelsey, one of the waitresses, Is standing, sipping from a small cup of espresso. She glanced at me, taking in my appearance and handing me a cup.
"Thanks, I needed that." I said, taking a big gulp of the coffee, and ignoring the way it burns.
"Hey look over there." She said, nudging my hip with her elbow. I looked in the direction she was pointing to and froze. It was that guy from last night. The one that I couldn't get out of my head. I heard her moan to herself, "my God, he's so hot."
Kelsey looked at me, waiting for me to say something. "Oh yeah, a total hottie," I agree, taking another sip from my coffee.
I heard someone clear their throat beside us. I gasp turning around, a petite woman, my age stood with her hands on her hips and a little too much makeup with an annoyed expression on her face,"I'm so sorry ma'am! Would you like a table or a booth?"
"Um, actually, I'm looking for someone." She said, an attitude laced in her voice as she looked around. "Oh! There he is." She said pointing to where the adoring man sat. "Hi Mason!" She shouted, her voice making me want to find a pair of ear plugs.
Mason. The named was as attractive as he was.
I watched as she made sure her cleavage was showing enough as the guy looked in our direction. He stared at me for a minute, obviously recognizing me as the weirdo that was staring at him last night. I'm not exactly sure why, but there was a look of darkness in his eyes.
"She's with me." He said, putting his finger in the air and sensually winking at her. I felt a fire ignite within me, hearing the rumble of his deep voice. She obnoxiously giggled and walked over to him.
