It had been only days ago when Lady Morgana unleashed war on Camelot, when Sir Mordred had attempted to slay Arthur. Merlin and Arthur had rode off together as the servant desperately tried to get him to the Shide, desperately tried to save him. Now, those remaining were dealing with the aftermath of the war as well as the fear gnawing in the back of their minds; would the beloved King Arthur return home?
"Elizabeth darling, you've been pacing all day yesterday and now again today. You need to eat and rest, please." Gwaine says with a worried voice, entering the room of the princess.
"I can't, not while Arthur's out there. I never thought Morgana would go this far. He could be dead. I never thought she...my own sister would go do that." Elizabeth replies, not stopping her pacing and now beginning to stress herself even more. Her vision blurred from tears, breathing growing more difficult.
"Elizabeth, Elizabeth. Look at me, hey. He's going to be fine, he's in the company of good hands, he'll be home to us." Gwaine says as he walks over to her, taking one of her hands in his so she can't keep pacing and wiping the tears away with the other before lifting her chin so she can look him in the eyes.
"What if it's not enough? What if the Shide refuse? What if Merlin gets him to the lake too late?" Elizabeth vocalizes all her anxieties, panic dripping off her voice as she cries. The poor princess was trying failing to calm herself completely, although Gwaine's presence helped her immensely.
"Hey, you know what? Why don't we take this to Morgana? A good fight never fails to cheer you up, my love. What better way to do so than bring the end of the one who started this mess?" Gwaine suggests with a smile.
"Gwaine darling, she has magic." Elizabeth points out with a frown.
"As do you, Elizabeth." Gwaine counters with the smile still on his face, pointing out something that the worry stricken mind had somehow forgotten. If she wasn't so happy, she probably would've face palmed. Both pairs of eyes met, hope sparking in the originally broken pair.
"Get Percival ready as well. Morgana has barely any men left and if anyone could take out a bunch of them it'd be that giant of a man." Elizabeth decides, chuckling a little at the end of the sentence when she had called Percival a giant.
Percival is easily the strongest of the nights, he's always beating the others in arm wrestle, although usually he feels gentlemanly and lets the ladies win.
And yet even if he wasn't the strongest, Elizabeth would still choose him. Besides Gwaine obviously, he was one of the knights she's closest with. The three tend to hang out together frequently, whether it was playing pranks on one another, playfully stealing food from the kitchen, or going on adventures.
"As you wish, m'lady." Gwaine says with a grin, happy to bring his lover some joy as well as get some revenge. And who better to get revenge with than his two best friends?
"We ride at dawn." Elizabeth decides after a moment, smiling widely with a pinch of bitterness as Gwaine walks out. Only bitterness towards Morgana though, of course.
Morgana got everything Elizabeth had spent almost ten long years wanting more than anything. A doting father, a family, a nice roof over her head, nonstop protection, all three meals able to feed her til she's full. She took it all for granted, and even tried killing Arthur. He had done her no wrong, and it made Elizabeth's blood boil knowing that Morgana had betrayed him. But now, realizing the witch would finally pay...that calmed Elizabeth extremely. Revenge has never been so sweet.
Unbeknownst to the princess, her life would only go downhill from there, and soon she'd experience a pain worse than anything she's encountered yet.
