"She was like a moon, part of her was always hidden away"
---
I've been serving coffee and pastries for hours, every now and then someone would order a sandwich or wrap but mostly it was just college students coming into study that wanted some coffee. I had no problems, everything ran smoothly, having Veronica here to help me was a plus as well.
She adjusted me to the rhythm, explaining how everything worked and I caught on really quick. Every now and again I would have to go over and ask her how to do something or she would check to make sure I was good.
We were now in the process of closing up. Veronica and I thought it would be the easier shift because we got some of our homework done before the shift started and we close up at seven. The hours were really great for the pay and I was very proud of myself for making it through my first day. To say I was nervous was an understatement. The whole time during homework beforehand my anxiety was up with the fear I would get here, spill something on me or worse a customer and be fired. Thankfully neither happened.
"Well I'm exhausted" Veronica huffed as she sat in one of the empty chairs. I was hanging up my apron and getting my bag, since Veronica had helped me so much earlier I offered to wipe down all the tables so she was ready to go. "I am too, you ready to go?" Turning off all the lights we walked out together making sure to lock the doors.
It felt really good to work, almost like I was worth something again. I don't even know why I am saying again it's not like I fully ever felt like I was worth something, but that didn't matter. I was working for myself, I was enjoying school now and had friends who were here to support me along the way. I had never had that and it felt really good to know that I did now and that I earned it myself.
I checked the door making sure that it was locked before I headed to the car. Veronica was already in her car getting the music ready, we were currently listening to her country playlist which I had no problems with. She has actually made me grow to like country music, which I never thought I would. The whole drive home was filled with us singing along to country songs and discussing our days.
She was really happy to have some classes with Miles because he works a job as well and their hours don't always align. I am currently just waiting for the day she finally tells me they are together because I continue to hear less and less about Colt. They'd be good for each other and she is so happy when they are together, I want it to work for her.
""I'm going to shower," Veronica states as we walk into the house. I nodded my head and wandered down to her room pulling out pajama shorts and this oversized grey tshirt I had gotten from the foster center. I didn't mind this shirt because it was actually very comfortable and in good shape.
I pulled out my notes from classes today looking over them and then rewriting some of them that came out messier. It was easier for me to study if the notes I was looking at were neat and organized, plus I enjoyed writing my notes.
