Madelyn and Jackson, couldn't be more different but so alike. Maybe that is what draws them to the other.

"let's meet again, for the first time"

All I see is a girl who was running like it was for their life with blood dripping from their head. I wanted to help when I saw them but the second their head whipped around to see who had touched them I recognized the girl immediately. I didn't think it was real, I took in all of her features that had changed over the years since the last time I'd been around her.
Her old short hair now hung near her mid back, it was a shade of blonde that fit her well. She was very skinny almost to the point you would think she never ate. When I knew her she had no issues eating. So I was assuming that she was just in good shape. Her cheeks were a light shade of pink from the running that she was doing. Her lips had become full and were tinted pink.
My eyes continued to trail down the rest of her body taking her in. I still didn't believe that she was standing right in front of me after all these years. Her chest was perfect and you could tell she didn't try to show anything off but, my god. She had a wonderful shape, mostly an hourglass figure. Her outfit was beyond simple, it was an old semi fit tank top and a pair of running shorts, matched with running shoes. It didn't surprise me that she ran, her body was in fantastic shape and she wasn't out of breath from her previous running.
I let my eyes return to her to find her staring at me. She appeared to take that as an invitation to check me out this time, returning the favor. I wasn't the same scrawny little boy she knew almost four years ago. I worked out more, built myself, and got a tattoo. No it wasn't impulsive, I made sure I knew what I was doing. It was actually a gift to myself on my eighteenth birthday.
Once her eyes connected with it her expression changed a slight bit. I would assume it was curiosity but without knowing her recently I genuinely had no idea. Her gaze continued to follow the rest of my body until her eyes connected back with mine, that hadn't left her face.
I didn't know what to say to her. I mean what do you say to someone you haven't talked to for years, and it being your fault. I contemplated so many different things to say, but none of them felt right. Before anything even came out of my mouth she spoke.
"Jack" she was very soft spoken but she didn't sound the least bit uncertain with herself. She knew it was me and that made me incredibly happy. Explaining why I left this beautifully amazing person that is standing in front of me would make no sense to anyone.
I still couldn't seem to word any sentence, I opened my mouth to say something but nothing was coming out. I most likely looked like a fish trying to get water by the way my mouth was opening and closing. Before I could second guess anything I said whatever my tangled thoughts let come out of my mouth.
"Madelyn, you," I will still struggling to form a comprehensible sentence. "You look good" I finally was able to get out. She probably thought I was an illiterate idiot. Madelyn had every reason to think I was an idiot, I walked away from my best friend pretty much four years ago. Of course I had my reasons, but none of them were good. She didn't deserve any of that, Madelyn never once wronged me and she made growing up so amazing.
