Trigger Warning: mention of overdose and pill use

JANES POV

Last night was definitely something. Reggie slipped and confirmed Eren's assumptions about us, he doesn't know the full extent but unless he's really dumb, he's on the right track.

Stone gave him a punishment, which isn't even bad, I'm sitting here with a broken hand and all Reggie's got was being banned from coming to the meeting later today. Granted I am the one who is essentially a hit man for a living and can handle it, it still pisses me off that Stone didn't even think about breaking his hand like he instantly thought for me.

And sooner or later Stone's going to realize that we literally need Reggie there tonight. He has to ensure our earpieces and wires stay intact through the whole meeting, and he has to monitor the cameras.

Reggie went on a tangent to me and wouldn't stop spamming my phone with reasons why he thinks he should be there. He would've texted Stone but he blocked him because, believe it or not, spammed texted him too much.

It has been made clear that if Reggie absolutely needs to contact him that I'm the messenger. I've considered blocking him too but there are times where I need him to help me get into a few databases. It'd be a pain to unblock and block him constantly.

I'm also expected to update Eren on a few things, Stone's words, and ensure he understands the benefits of working under an ex gang member.

Of course we scared the shit out of him on purpose, he needs to know and understand that we're not fucking around. No matter how much I flirt with him, I won't hesitate to kill him if need be.

Regardless, for everyone who risks their life by working for Stone at the bar, he always tells them the risks. He doesn't explain the specifics, but he always lets them know after they've been working with him for a while, if they haven't picked up on it yet, that he's a dangerous man. He ensures protection of harm were to come their way and thankfully nothing has happened to the staff. All the employees are aware that Stone hasn't always been just a bar owner and that he has a complicated past. They all have a bond with him and have proved time and time again that they're loyal to him.

His old gang, the Saints, are the ones helping ensure protection. They're Stone's  people and they all have a pact to always protect their own. Just because Stone is no longer an active member of the Saints doesn't mean that pact dismembers. Like he always says, 'once a Saint, always a Saint.'

Now that Eren forced his way in, he has also gained this ensured protection from not only Stone, that is if he can further prove himself.

Whilst pondering my thoughts I pulled into the back of the bar, parking in one of the spots, and hopped out of my car to sit on the bench.

I was craving a cigarette and needed to feel the mild burn in my throat as it trickled down to my chest. I never meant to start smoking, let alone become addicted, but it was between this or nearly overdosing on pills. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I'll never forget how I felt.

My eyes were bloodshot, my head was spinning, everything was quiet and blurry. Hands were shaking so bad that if I tried to hold a cup of water it'd spill. And my heart.

I could feel and hear it slowing down. That was the only loud thing I heard, my heart. It was beating slower and slower, thumping through my ears, nearing my death and I was ready for it. I accepted the fact that I was gonna die.

That was until I remembered I couldn't go yet. Especially not like that. I at least wanted to die a dramatic death, leaning off a cliff or something gobsmacking like in the movies.
