"Hey, Sanzu, are you sure you're not only using this as an excuse to murder me?"
Haru had been asking this constantly for almost an hour now and Sanzu was not having any of it.
"Uh-huh? What do I even gain from killing a little girl like you?" He scoffed at her and continued holding her wrist, guiding her towards their destination.
The reason for Haru's constant pestering was because of how dark the path that they were driving on was. Their only source of light was the car's headlights which wasn't even enough to cover the entirety of the path, and the eerie noises of the birds and insects weren't helping at all.
She did like the extremes, but she does get scared sometimes.
Booting up her camera, she adjusted it a few times until she was satisfied with it. "Hello, everyone! Just a quick status report because this could be my last day alive."
Silence was never one of the things she liked. For someone as talkative as her, the deafening sound of silence bothered her for some reason. The way she could clearly hear how she's breathing and the way the awkwardness would sooth in. It irked her.
And so, she would always do something to break the silence.
It didn't matter if she was the only one doing the talking, if she could just get rid of the unpleasant atmosphere, she would do it without hesitations.
Sanzu only rolled his eyes at the girl's actions, not even a bit interested to what she was spouting. "We're currently heading towards a murder crime scene! My murder crime scene!" She beamed and pointed the camera to the person beside her.
"And this person beside me is none other than my murderer! Be sure to get him in jail once I die!" She snickered quietly and then continued to film their journey as if she was a child in a fieldtrip.
Can she not stay still for once? He thought, sighing as he saw that the girl was now distracted by the fireflies surrounding the car.
This would always be their common scenario. Haru doing all the talking and Sanzu pretending not to care when he would always listen attentively; taking notes of her likes and dislikes. He would observe her little habits, like how she would always fiddle with the hem of her clothes when she was uncomfortable or how she would stop singing whenever she was unhappy with something.
Sanzu could read her like a book during certain times. But there were still instances where she would just suddenly stay quiet, a melancholic look on her face, one that he cannot understand.
However, all of that would suddenly turn into a smile whenever she would catch a sight of him. Like she didn't want him to read her thoughts at all. Like she didn't want anyone to understand her.
He knew that she lied a lot, however he could never confront her, nor get angry at her at all. He didn't have the power to. Just seeing the girl was enough to melt away the building uncertainty in his heart.
If only she knew the power that she had over him.
A few minutes passed by and the girl had finally decided to stop her constant chatter and just stay quiet throughout the whole ride. Her throat was sore from all the talking that she did with her vlog.
Although she was curious by what Sanzu meant when he said he'd grant her wish, she didn't pry anymore. Not that he would answer her questions anyway. It didn't last long though, for she really cannot take the silence.
Being the mischievous person she was, she continued to bother him anyway.
"Sanzu. Hey, Sanzu!" She extended her arms towards his shoulders, shaking him a bit but he continued looking straight at the road, not minding her little whines.
