"Was I stupid to love you?"
First Person POV
*{flashback}*
It was senior year and I had just entered the school library. As one does I was looking for a book. While I was looking through one of the shelves I heard it.
It was Harper Hillman. She was talking to someone on the other side of the bookshelf. Being the observant (nosy) person I was I started to listen in.
"Alexa says to meet her behind the fieldhouse after school," She whispered loud enough for me to hear.
I assumed she was talking to one of the football players in our grade. But my theory was debunked when I heard the voice who responded.
"Okay," the soft voice that belonged to young Spencer Reid stuttered.
I quickly grabbed the book I was looking for and went to check it out. Why was the most popular girl in school wanting to meet up with Spencer? This has to be some kind of joke and I was going to get to the bottom of it.
Spencer and I had gotten closer since our first meeting. We were now good friends, so I knew Spencer was quite gullible when it came to girls. They were plotting something and he was too naïve to see it.
I swiftly left the library following a few steps behind Harper. When she turned the corner there stood Alexa Lisbon with the football team. They were huddled in a group but I could still make out what they were saying.
"Did you tell him," Alexa whispered as Harper walked up.
"Yeah, he brought it," Harper replies whispering as well.
"Good, don't forget to bring the gym rope after school," one of the football players reminded Harper.
"This is going to be hilarious," Alexa snickered walking away with one of the players.
I gasped and turned away from the group and started to run away before they saw me. I headed back toward the library to find Spencer. When I got there it was empty.
"Where is he," I whispered to myself.
However, before I could make a move to find him the bell rang. I had to find Spencer before it was too late. But when I found him it already was.
There were just people there watching it happen. Laughing, recording, and taking photos. This sight alone brought tears to my eyes.He was tied up to the goal post naked.
I stood behind one of the buildings of the school watching mortified at the sight in front of me. I was scared of what might have happened if I was to get involved. When they all cleared out I ran to him as fast as my legs could take me.
"Oh, Spencer I should have tried harder to stop this." I sighed as I untied him from the post.
"You knew about it and still let it happen," He cried with his eyes full of tears.
" I overheard them talking about it but it was too late, you were already gone," I tried reason with him handing him his clothes.
"Oh. Well thanks for trying,"he muttered as his voice softened .
"I still don't understand why you like girls like her anyway," I whispered to myself waiting for him to get dressed.
"Why do you care about what kind of girls I like ."He huffed putting his clothes back on wiping his eyes.
I admit that I did have a small crush on Spencer back then since that first day we met even if he was a bit cold to me at first.
I was silent as I looked away from him afraid he would finally catch on. At the moment where I wish he wouldn't.
"Y/n I don't really like you like that," He began as the realization hit him.
I was speechless as my heart shattered and tears started to form.
"No, you're crazy if you ever think I would like someone like you," I blurted out fighting off tears.
"What did you just call me," His face dropped as the harsh tone returned.
"You heard me," I spat the built-up tears now starting to spill.
Spencer didn't say a word as he pushed past me clutching his backpack. After that, Spencer and I never spoke again.
That was when it all started. When we started to hate each other. Everything we did from then on there was competition even things as simple as who turned in homework first.
*{ End Of Flashback}*
First POV
The whole table was silent all of them taking in the information they just heard.
"Woah," Emily states simply.
"Wow," JJ adds with the same surprised expression.
"I know not one of my finest moments but I was fourteen so," I sigh taking a sip from my drink.
"Well have you guys ever tried to talk about it," Penelope questions.
"When we did talk all we did was argue and after graduation, we never saw each other again," I respond getting tired of the subject already.
"Maybe you guys can try now," JJ offers hopefully.
"If you guys don't mind I don't want to talk about this anymore," I state indirectly shutting down JJ's idea.
"Of course let's just finish our food so we can go shopping," Emily finally speaks attempting to bring the mood back up.
After the awkward moment passed the rest of the day was perfect. Spencer's name was not even brought up once.
