<he worked hard>

the old woman sighed as she got lost looking at the air for a moment

<he suffered a lot, don't disrespect him, do it for me>

disrespecting him is like disrespecting me she thought, she wanted to add it but she stopped herself

<Mrs. Evans, I'm sorry but Mr. Kim makes it hard to be respectful>

Jimin giggled making the woman chuckle

<he is professional Jimin, you should appreciate him more>

her hand went to the table grabbing on it for some support, Jungkook noticed her struggles in getting up and helped her

<thank you, darling,  it's really time for me to go on, it was a pleasure to see you again>

she said passing him, and then you and Jimin, a smile, the three of you sighed as you looked at the woman leaving the coffee shop, it was reliving meeting Mrs. Evans. She was one of the best wardens the FBI could ever ask for.

<I wasn't expecting this>

Jungkook commented and your partner just nodded

<I wouldn't ever guess that Kim Taehyung is the son of a farmer, he should go back to his garden and stop annoying us>

Jimin added and tried to control his laughter, you shot him a death glare, evidently, he noticed it because he cleared his throat and straightened up his posture

<don't say it ever again not even as a  joke Jimin, it's not funny>

the firm way you said it made Jimin frown, you had never used that tone, or at least not with him

<I'm sorry>

he mumbled but even after the conversation shifted to another topic he still kept his eyes on you, his head was quickly processing what could be the reason for such a hard reaction. When he said that sentence he expected you to not be really happy about it because that's just how you were. But he wasn't expecting such a tone.
As for you, well, your partner didn't know everything about you or your past and his stupid comment made you uncomfortable for personal reasons, you wouldn't surely spit there like that.

lunch break ended not long after, Jimin noticed you seemed really off after what he said and the way you scolded him. He took a mental note to confront you later about it because as for now you were questioning one of the customers of the hotel. All of them had an alibi and no one heard or saw a thing.
Axel Scott's room was the only one occupied on the first floor, the other guests preferred bigger rooms which were located on the second, third, fourth, and fifth floor.

<we are left with nothing>

you sighed as you just finished with the last person, Jimin, who was sitting at his desk at your left side, shook his head in agreement. You hated such cases. It was difficult when the victim had no family or friends and what was complicating things, even more, was the fact that Axel Scott was pretty popular on the internet, he had supporters and of course haters. Any of those thousands of people who were on his blog could be the possible killer.

Jimin fidgeted with his fingers nervously, he wanted to ask you something but he just couldn't find the right words to start the conversation

<Y/n...>

he called out but then his breath got stuck in his throat, you hummed waiting for him to continue still looking at the paper in front of you

<I'm sorry for earlier>

you looked at him for a second trying to give him a confused look, but you failed, you knew exactly what he was talking about and you knew Jimin was a good detective, he must have noticed the way your mood changed ever since then

<don't act dumb, you know. I'm sorry, I know you took it personally, but hurting you in any way wasn't my intention>

he got up from his seat and stopped in front of your desk, his left hand went up to yours trying to hold it, but you got away from his touch, your eyes didn't dare to lay on his but wondered wherever else

<it's ok>

you whispered hoping it would be enough, hoping it would end the conversation, Jimin wasn't stupid though

<I know it is not, you keep on not looking at me>

his hand went again towards you, this time he held your chin between his fingers making you look up, your heart skipped a beat as you hadn't realized before how close he was

<I don't know what happened in your past, but if you want to talk about it...>

no, I don't you wanted to say, but words weren't coming out of your mouth. You were lost in his eyes. There were some moments of silence when you just kept shamelessly staring in his beautiful doe eyes as he kept on trying to guess your thoughts. Without actually noticing what was happening, Jimin started to lean closer, inch by inch. Your lips would surely meet if your phone hadn't rung at that moment.
You cleared your throat as you checked the caller ID. Jimin took a step back as his mind was recalling what was about to happen and imagine what could be happening if dear Mr. Kim haven't decided to call at that moment.

<Mr. Kim wants us in his office>

you said after you hung up the call, Jimin sighed rolling his eyes. Not only that man had disturbed a moment Jimin was waiting for since a lot of time but was also asking him to walk on the second floor just to see his annoying face.

**

that night you went home with a heavy heart, too many things happened in one day.

-you nearly kissed your partner
-you got reminded about something you wanted to forget so bad
-your case had reached a stalemate

you drove as carefully as you could, it was late at night and your head was filled with tiredness and thoughts. As if the stress which you got from the case wasn't enough, Jimin needed to try kissing you. Is not like you would back away if he did...
Finally, you parked your car in front of your house. You sighed, another day with you and yourself. You knew the silence of the house would just make you stay up thinking the whole night.

You collected your purse and keys, got out of the car, and walked to your apartment. Thankfully the elevator was empty, you weren't in the mood of talking to any of your neighbors at that hour in the evening.

You opened the door and kicked your shoes off, throwing your purse somewhere. At that moment a noise came from the dark of the room, you hadn't turned the lights on yet, your hands went to the gun hung at your belt as you were ready to defend yourself. At that moment the lights turned on, not really by themselves, a man was standing in the living room, a big smile on his face as he raised his hands up giving up.

You breathed out the air you didn't know you were holding as you recognized the face of the man, you smiled widely before throwing yourself on him for a big hug

<Namjoon you scared the hell out of me, you should have warned me you were coming>
