Chapter 16.5 - The Awakening (2)

I sit down next to Monoma, due to the previous time we spoke we'd agreed to assess Kacchan's fight in order to evaluate anything hinting to Kacchan's new quirk.

"The first student to enter, Denki Kaminari! He made a sacrifice in his cavalry race, but will he be able to shock the crowd to the same extent with another victory?"

I shook my head, "Kaminari, to be frank, stands no chance." I look left to Monoma, the owner of that voice.

"I used a skill earlier. It's likely Kacchan will awaken the first aspect of his quirk in this battle." We sat silently as the mentioned boy walked into the arena.

"And the newcomer, Katsuki Bakugo! An explosive personality, let's just hope he's not all bark and no bite for this round." Present Mic yells as a tick mark visibly appears on Kacchan's head.

"And begin!" The crack of Midnight's whip sent Kacchan flying forward with the propulsion of his quirk, causing Kaminari to let out electricity as a defence mechanism.

Kacchan holds back, noticing the signs of a quirk about to be used. There's a flash of light, and...

"Whey..." Kaminari starts holding two thumbs up. Kacchan smirks before continuing his charge.

But, something's wrong, and not with Kacchan. Kaminari... isn't drooling.

Bakugo was only a few feet away when he realised this massive detail, and in an attempt to retreat he misses the time to set off an explosion.

Kaminari exploits the rare moment of weakness, and releases his quirk, somehow this time directly hitting Bakugo.

The electricity inches closer and closer as seconds passed, but it felt like time was moving in slow motion as horror reached Kacchans face.

Damn, I wish I could've taken a photo of this.

It connects before spreading harshly across Kacchan's body, almost as if it'd bonded with the blonde haired boy.

And that was it.

There Kacchan stood, electricity bouncing off across his body, spread all about.

God damn it, he's gonna do something really cool isn't he...

Kacchan reached out his right arm, I thought he'd go for a right hook given his movement, until he brought his fist into a pointing gesture, directly at Kaminari. He smirked.

He said something, I couldn't hear it of course, but his rips read a small 'bang'.

The electricity swarmed to his fist, gathering energy, before firing itself at the poor unsuspecting boy. It hit him in the chest, a small explosion being made from impact, launching Kaminari out of the ring.

There was then silence...

Until a deafening cheer broke out across the stadium, "K-Katsuki Bakugo wins unexpectedly after his last match! The next fighters will be..."

What... the fuck?

"Wow, Bakugo! How did you do that?" Yelled Kirishima, upon seeing the entry of said boy.

In return, he received no response. Rather, Bakugo looked at me. "Deku, let's go. We have to talk." I nodded, and followed him out of the room.

Why am I listening to him? He's the sidekick...

Kacchan turns around to see my point as I quickly recover with a serious expression.
