The day was cold, thick clouds were hanging in the sky, casting eerie shadows over the castle. Bela and Daniela lay asleep, next to Cassandra. All three of them cuddling on a bed too small. Cassandra opened her eyes, trying to get them to adjust to the gloomy glow of the rainy weather outside. She started shifting slightly, a bit stiff, and a light pressure on her chest. She looked around, very confused.
"Bela? Daniela?" she asked, her voice hoarse and weak. Bela woke up, and when she saw Cassandra looking at her, she excitedly jumped and hugged her sister tightly.
"Oh, Cass! You're awake! I'm so glad you're awake! I love so much!" Bela squealed, tears running down her face.
"I love you too, Bels!" she cried, tightly hugging Bela. The two of them tried to wake Daniela up. Cassandra shoved her on the shoulder.
"No, I don't want to go out in the snow!" she mumbled in her sleep, not speaking to either of them. The giggled at their youngest sister.
"Daniela! Wake up!" Cassandra shoved her again, this time hard enough to wake her up.
"What? Cassandra, I'm going to tell mom you-" she stopped, gasping at Cassandra's smiling face.
"Cass! You're awake!" she yelled, jumping on her, wrapping her arms around Cassandra's neck. They sat there a minute, happily embracing each other, giggling.
"I love you guys." Cassandra said, a tear forming.
"What happened?" Cassandra asked, wiping her face.
"Well, Mother Miranda showed up, and..." Bela wasn't sure how to tell her.
"You, uhm... You... She killed you, Cass." Daniela said, gulping.
"Killed? Wha- how? How am I here?" she started panicking.
"Melania brought you back, Cass, but-" Bela began speaking.
"Oh! I need to talk to her! Tell her thank you." Cassandra said quickly, about to get up from the bed.
"Cass, you can't."
"What do you mean I can't?"
"Cass, she's dead... That's how she saved you." Daniela said softly. Cassandra didn't answer, she just sat back down, and started sobbing.

Alcina looked at Melania, laying on the marble table, in a deep sleep. A huge wave of relief washed over her, as she inhaled deeply. She started crying again, so happy at the sight of her lover, breathing.
"My love. Oh, my love. Wake up, please." she pleaded softly, but Melania didn't move. The wave of relief stopped immediately.
She picked her up from the cold table, and walked to the castle. She was happy, but she was more scared. Scared that although she's alive, she might not wake. She pushed the thought away, trying to stay positive. She walked to their bedroom and laid her down on the bed.
"Elena! Please, come here, dear." she called. She made a little cut on her wrist, pressing it to Melania's mouth. She didn't move, but no blood escaped her mouth. No blood ran down her chin. She was indeed drinking the blood. Alcina smiled.
"Yes, my lady? Is everything alright?" she asked, seeing Melania laying on the bed. As far as Elena knew, Melania was dead. She looked at her mistress, worried.
"Please, bring us some wine. And fill the bathtub for us as well, please." Alcina asked, not taking her eyes off Melania. Elena noticed how polite Alcina was being, despite the circumstances. This made her wonder if she had lost her mind due to grief.
"Yes, my lady. As you wish." she answered, exiting the room. She decided to find Lord Heisenberg. She quickly runs to the lounge, and finds him on the couch, drinking.
"Lord Heisenberg?"
"What is it?" he asked, a bit annoyed. He's been drinking the whole day.
"It's Lady Dimitrescu, my Lord. I worry for her well being." Karl jumped up, already making his way to his sister's bedroom. Elena runs to keep up with him.
"Why do you think that?" he asked, not looking at her.
"Lady Dracos is in her room, my lord. She asked me to run them a bath and I -" she didn't finish, Karl had stopped dead in his tracks.
"What? Melania is alive?" he asked, looking down at her.
"No, my lord." Elena looks down, sadly avoiding his gaze.
"I see. Thank you. Just complete the tasks my sister has given to you. Quickly. I'll take care of it." he said, before turning and walked off. Elena quickly made her way to the cellar, to get some wine for her mistress.

Alcina was sitting on the bed, Melania next to her. She was busy reading her book when came bursting through the doors.
"Alcina. What are you doing, dear sister?" he asked, when he saw Melania's body next to her.
"Karl, wait." she was trying to talk to him, but he seemed to have a panic attack.
"Don't 'Karl' me. You wait. Sister, I know you loved her, but-"
"Karl."
"But you can't do this to yourself. Think of the girls-"
"Karl..."
"They need their mother and if you are going to lose your shit-"
"Karl! Enough! Listen to me!" Alcina shouted. She was grateful he was concerned, but he was seriously pissing her off now.
"She's alive, brother." she said softly, looking at Melania.
"Alcina, please... She's-"
"Karl Alaric Heisenberg! Listen to me for fuck's sake!" Alcina yelled, making him look at her, shock and concern written on his face. Alcina Dimitrescu doesn't curse. Except if she's really angry, or annoyed.
"Now. Get your stupid ass over here and look." she demanded. Reluctantly he walked over and looked at Melania. His eyes widened, unable to speak.
"Now, you're quiet?"
"Oh, my god." was all he could manage. He could see her chest, slowly rising and falling.
"Please, Karl. Go check up on the girls. I need you, brother. I need your help taking care of the girls. For the time being." she asked, holding back her tears.
"Of course, Alcina. Of course I'll help." he gave her a kiss on the forehead, and left the room, just as Elena came in.
"Thank you, maiden. For your concern. Melania is, in fact, alive. My sister is fine. But help her. With anything she asks." Karl said without stopping, making his way to the girls.
"Thank you, my lord." she said. She entered the room, now seeing Melania's breathing. She sighed in relief. She handed Alcina her wine, then made her way to the bathroom, to draw them a bath.
