Emergency

The next few days have been the same. You wake up, get ready, do your tasks, eat, then sleep. The only new thing you have been doing is talking to others. You've been having small talk with others, and Purple seems happy about it.

One person you've been a bit intrigued by is Red. You don't see them around often, and when you do they are always near vents and not doing anything. They seem really suspicious, but what would they even do? We're on a spaceship. There isn't anything they could do, except for sabotage the systems that make the ship operate, but nothing has happened the past few days, so you didn't really suspect too much. Maybe Red was just weird.

You were halfway done with your tasks when you heard a loud alarm blaring through the halls. You panicked and check your tablet, and it said that the oxygen systems had been tampered with, and we only have a few minutes to fix it.

You rushed down the halls to the O2 room, and saw a few other people already in there, frantically pressing in the numbers to fix up the oxygen. After a few seconds, the alarm stopped and a wave of relief passed through everyone in the room.

You noticed every crewmate was here except for Red. Maybe they just didn't arrive in time before it was fixed. You headed out towards the storage room when you noticed Red following you. Picking up the gas can, you turned around to try and talk to them, but you misjudged how close they were and you bumped into each other.

"Oh, sorry-" Red quickly apologized.

"It's fine. Anyways, I have a question," you started. "Where were you when the oxygen system was getting fixed? I saw everyone on this ship in O2, except for you. I've also never seen you do a task at all in the few days I've been on this ship. Whenever I pass by you it always seems like you're hiding something. It's strange." you said.

Red seemed a bit shocked at your words. They seemed surprisingly taken aback.

"W-What do you mean? I'm not hiding anything. I was just too far away from O2 to arrive in time. I have been doing my tasks, too." they stuttered.

You looked at them with an unconvinced expression on your face, even though they most likely couldn't see it well through the glass of the helmet.

"I-I'm telling you, man. I haven't been doing anything wrong. I think you're just misunderstanding something." Red said with a hint of panic in their voice as they slowly approached.

You were getting backed into the wall, and no one else could see because you were mostly hidden behind some storage crates.

Red pinned you onto the wall, a threatening aura radiating from them.

Your face heated up for some reason. You didn't like Red... right?

You shook your head to clear your thoughts, looking up at the crewmate with your fearful eyes and blushing face.

Red looked deep into your eyes for a second with a serious face, but their expression quickly changed into something panicked as they backed away.

"S-Sorry." they muttered, barely audible.

You said nothing as you slightly sped away from them, exiting the storage room and heading to the cafeteria. All you had to do was fix some wiring.

You quickly finished up your last tasks, then got your dinner. You couldn't stop thinking about what happened with you and Red. You didn't know if you were more distressed about the fact that Red is really suspicious, or that you might like them.

Finishing your food, you headed to the crewmate's quarters to get ready for bed. You noticed how empty it was in there. Maybe the others were having a meeting. You took off your helmet and walked over to your bed.

You went to pick up your backpack when you noticed something out of the corner of your eye.

In an instant you're against the wall again.

"Promise me you wont tell anyone what I'm about to tell you, okay?" Red whispered.

You looked at them, confused.

"You know how earlier, the oxygen systems were sabotaged?" they began.

You nodded, fearful of what they were about to say.

"That.... was me. Before I got on this ship, I was tasked to kill every person on it, for a large sum of cash. And, I accepted." they said with a sad, regretful expression on their face. "I... I can't do it. Not with... Not with you here. I don't want to kill you. Even though we've barely spoken, you're very important to me." They stated.

They suddenly had a look of shock on their face as they muttered. "God, why would I say something like that. I sound so creepy."

A blush spread over your face as you were processing what Red just said.

"Y'know, you're kind of important to me, too." you said quietly.

Red looked at you, surprised.

Both of you looked deep into each others eyes for a moment, before you both got closer, closing the gap between both of your lips.

You face heat up even more as you both continued the kiss. It went on for a short while, but you separated since you were out of breath.

"U-Um... Well. I guess it's time I get ready for bed. Have a good night, Red." you said, smiling. You walked past them to head to the bathroom.

"I love you."
