The Light in the Darkness

9: Donuts.

Third person POV:

A small body ran out of the med room, surprising Bucky and Steve as the walked past. They look into the room to see Wanda rushing out with Tony close behind. "What the hell was that." Steve went over to Tony. "Miss Jack has had a mini breakdown and has run away to who knows where." Tony looks at Wanda. She was having a mini breakdown as well, "Oh my god what if she gets lost. What if she gets hurt." She mumbled to herself. Natasha rushed over, "We just saw Jack rush into her room, is everything ok. Oh god Wanda." She started to calm Wanda down and went into the main room. 

"I will go check on her." Bucky started to walk towards the sleeping quarters. When he got there he saw Jack's door closed and he went over and knocked.

Jacks POV

I didn't know where I was going but I somehow landed in my room. I jumped in my bed and hid under the covers. I was so embarrassed for running out but I couldn't help it. I knew Wanda, Tony, Bucky, or Steve could've caught me but they didn't. I'm sure they thought I didn't want to talk or have someone with me, but I did, I wanted someone to comfort me the way Wanda did. I wanted Wanda.

There was a knock at the door, and someone walked in. They turned on the light and I groaned, trying to show that I didn't like that, "Hey doll." I realized that voice, it was Bucky. I peak out of the covers and see him standing at the door that he was shutting.  I sit up and put my knees to my chin. 

He sat on my bed and looked at me. I knew I could trust him since he lived at hydra too, "What happened out there doll." Looked at me, blue eyes meeting blue eyes. I shrug and show him the scar. He grabs me and sits me in his lap, "I'm so sorry doll. I know that it's embarrassing, but you need to be proud of who you are. It's the scars that make you beautiful, ya know." I just look up at him resting my head on his shoulder. I look at what time it is and see 12:30 a:m. I yawn and drift into sleep.

Buckys POV:

I watch as the little person falls asleep on me, she had a long day. I move her into a better position and stand up with her in my arms. I open the door and walk to the main room where Wanda and Nat where talking, I walked in and placed her next to Wanda. "I know you're worried about her." I walked out and towards my room. 

That little girl went through so much pain in such a little amount of time. She braved Hydra while I feared it. The only thing she knew was pain and suffering her whole life. It's not fair.  She is an angle, and she was given to the devil. All I could think about was how she would never fully get a true childhood.

JACKS POV:

I woke up not on Bucky's lap but in between Nat and Wanda with a blanket covering me in the main room on a couch. I snuggle up against Wanda and she looks down at me and sits me on her lap. The TV was turned on to a movie and we watched it until Steve came in, "I'm gonna get donuts, do any of you want to come?" Nat and Wanda turn to me and I shrug. "Come on we will get some bonding time." Steve waited for me to decide, "Ok." I jump up and start walking over to Steve. He grabs my hand and we walk out to the car.

This car was different from the one we where in yesterday. It was a blue green, with the back of it sloped down. It didn't look like any cars that I had seen before. Steve helped me in and sat me in the passengers seat but I couldn't see a thing.I stood up as he grabbed a book and placed it on the seat, "This should work." 

Looked back at the compound and I saw the huge building slowly disappear. The trees still covered the road but we started to make it to a small town. Steve stopped the car at a place that said, LOWLY DONUTS, WE MAKE 'EM, YOU TAKE 'EM. He put on glasses and a hat. 

When we walked in the smell overwhelmed my nose. It smelled so good. Steve walked up to a glass box, where a man stood, "Hello, welcome to Lowly Donuts, how many would you like today." His name tag reads Erin. "3 dozen please." Steve looks down at me, "You wanna help pick the donuts out for the group." I nod excitedly. I start looking at the many donuts. Some with holes I the middle some with out, some with rainbows, some with chocolate some with vanilla. I start pointing at donuts. After for what felt like forever we got 3 dozen. 

We start to walk out with 3 boxes when Erin stopped us, "You look familiar" Steve froze, "Your the dude from that laptop store in the mall. Hows your wife doing." Steve had a wife? I look up at Steve, "Oh yeh she's doing good." "Good and how bout that you have a daughter." I look up at him and look back at Steve. Who had a daughter, was he talking about me? I look back over at him then Steve answers, "Yup, we have a daughter."

We enter the car, "I'm not your daughter. Who's your wife can I meet her? Who was that guy?" I blurt out. "He is someone that Natasha and I saw one day when we were undercover and we said we were fiancés." "Oh, that makes since." I look up at him and he looks down at me, "Well, should we get going before everyone is hangry." 

We are half way back, the trees grew thicker and no one  was on the road. then out of nowhere 5 black huge cars drive past us. Steve looks worried and looks back. The cars where now following us. "Steve what's going on." Im looking back and hoping we are close to the compound. Steve starts going faster, "I'm not sure, its  probably nothing." His tone made me certain it was something.

He tells Jarvis to call Bucky.

'Hey, what's up.'

"Tell the team that there might be people following us so be ready when we get to the compound."

'Ok, You want me to go and find you.' 

"No it's fine we are good right now."

'Wait, us, we. Who is with you.'

"Hi" I squeak

'You have Jack with you'

Then the call cut off and the cars surround us. I grab onto Steve and he holds me close to him as he reaches behind him to grab a big metal disk. The other people started shooting at us and I was gripping onto Steve. The guys where getting closer and closer to the car.
