The Light in the Darkness

6: The Braid

They somehow manage to get me out of the treehouse and we go to greet the team. They didn't have my dad though. Carol came over and swooped me up. I noticed a lot more people, I saw Tony and Bruce, the dude with dirty blonde hair, another guy with light brown, dirty blonde hair.  A guy with long blonde hair next to a guy with greasy black hair. The guy who was next to Bucky and a purple dude with a yellow glowy thing on his head. Then a flash passed me and hugged Wanda, "hey sis, how's the little one." He had white tips on his hair and was super fast. 

When we got to the main room, Carol dropped me and I hid behind Wandas legs. Each one started to introduce themselves to me. First was the really tap man with dirty blonde hair, "Hey, I'm Steve Rogers." 

"Im Sam." "Clint" "Thor son of Odin" "Loki God of Mischief" "Vision, It's my pleasure Jack." Then, speedy dude, "I'm Pietro, Wanda's twin" It was a lot to take in but I tried to remember. "I have pizza." Tony yelled from the kitchen. 

Everyone sat on the couch with paper plates talking over each other. I sat on Wanda's lab for a while, then Natasha grabbed me and placed me on her lap. "How was today? You like Bucky" I nod, overwhelmed from everyone else. Steve walked over to us and sits by Nat, "Hey, Jack, how do you like it here so far." I shrug, "Good, it's better than my old home." He smiles and asks if I want another piece of pizza, I nod yes. 

Around 2 hours later, people are just talking, I'm getting passed around person to person. I end with Wanda, again. I start to fall asleep on her, but she notices before I'm asleep, "I think we are gonna call it a night" She stands up and people are saying goodnight. 

When we got to my room she turns on a light, "lets go change your clothes and brush your hair and teeth." We go to one of the two doors near the bed and she grabs other sweatpants that are a light purple, and a tee shirt that matches. She helps me put it on and then we go into the bathroom. She helps me get my stuff on the toothbrush and I brush my teeth. She grabs a hairbrush and sets me down on the couch and turns on a show. I sit on the coffee table as she brushes out the tangles.

"Ow" "Sorry, kiddo, you just have a bad tangle. She brushes it out and makes her way to the left side. She starts brushing and the comb gets caught in something. She moves back some of my hair to reveal a small braid hidden in my hair. "Whats this, Jack?" I try to act like I have no clue, "What is what?" "This small braid in your hair. It looks like it was tied with some cloth. Did you do that." "No" I shoot up. I knew she knew I was lying but I didn't care. "You know I can tell you're lying. It's not a bad thing that you braided it." I look at her, "What do you mean its not bad that I braided it." 

She sets me on her lap. She is looking at me and I look away shamefully, feeling tears going down my cheeks. She gently moves my head to face her and wipes a tear off my cheeks, "You can have your hair however you want we can braid it or we can put it in pigtails, there is noting wrong with that," "But, Dad said that I had to always have my hair down and if he caught me with it in a braid or something be would punish me." I interrupt, with more tears falling down my eyes. "You won't get punish for silly stuff like that here, now lets get back to brushing that mess of hair." I sit back down on the coffee table.

Wanda finishes doing my hair and she braids it in two dutch braids. She sets me down next to her and she starts to read a book to me. By the time it was done I could barely keep my eyes open. Wanda walks me over to my bed, tucks me in and kisses me on the head. "Can you stay here." I look up at her. She had brought a pillow and blanket in my room because of the nightmares and I wasn't use to the room. She smiles, "You know I will." "No on my bed not the couch. It's too hard to sleep on." She gets up and moves her pillow next to mine, "I am gonna go tell the others I'm in your room tonight, then I will be right back. Okay" I nod and she walks out of the room.

WANDAS POV:

I look at Jacks tired face. It's almost too cute to leave. I kiss her and walk out of the room down to the main room. I see the others playing on the Xbox. I walk in, "She is insisting I sleep with her so I will be in Jacks room tonight." Tony perks up, "Why don't you add a small bed in your room so she can go in your room whenever she needs. How 'bout I add one in all of your rooms, you never know if Jack will get a bond with someone else." "Maybe tomorrow Stark. We are going to the store tomorrow. She needs some clothes and stuff." Nat adds. I nod and walk back out to Jacks room. When I walk in I see a sleepy Jack pop her head up. I walk over and lay in the bed next to her and she snuggles into me.
