HeartBeat ✔(Steve Rogers X OC X Bucky Barnes)

Chapter 5

After dressing, I stepped out of my room. Steve had just stepped out of his, Bucky was still in his room. I smiled at Steve, which he was a bit confused by. I could see it in his eyes.

"Outside of my room for the next thirteen days, I must show I'm not suffering. Its the way of being a strong Queen." I said calmly, trying to let him know I'm not completely emotionless or just crazy. He gave me a nod with a look of understanding. He must have been in my shoes in some way or another. I wonder what he has gone through. He's so understanding with everything, like he's gone through so many similar situations before. "Did you have someone in the 40s?" My question came from no where seemingly. It surprised Steve enough be speechless for a moment. "It's okay if you did. I wasn't even a thought yet." I laughed a bit, trying to settle the atmosphere of the awkwardness from my question. He gave me a weak smile. He did have someone. What happened to them? We're they a soulmate of his? How cruel would life be to give him two from two different times.

"Her name was Peggy." He spoke softly. His eyes showing he was reminiscing, looking similar to how Papa would look when he told me stories of how him and Ma had met. "We weren't soulmates. You're my only mate..." He trailed off showing me a look of guilt.

"It's okay, Steve. I really do understand." I tried to encourage him to continue. He sighed with a nod.

"She was there when I was finally recruited into the Army. She was there when I got the injections and when I lost Bucky-"

"Lost Bucky? What do you mean?" I interrupted. Bucky wasn't lost, he was right in his room. He was here. Steve gave me a sad smile.

"He died, or at least I had thought he did. But that's his story to tell." I nodded in understanding. I would have to talk to Bucky about his story another time. "But, here I was in the army, no sign of my mate even being alive. My mark had no heartbeat. Now I see why." He gave me a more genuine smile. "I never did anything with her, you know. I mean- I uh- We kissed before." I felt a slight pang, but I understood. My face never wavered to show any sign of pain, which he did search for. I probably would have done the same thing. Thinking they didn't exist, only to find out I had to live a very long time to see them.

"So how did you end up staying so young? Or is that a side effect of the serum?" I asked with a bit of amusement in my voice. He laughed at me.

"I actually took a plane down into water and froze in time essentially." I laughed at that.

"Oh no, so you were frozen like how a cave man from the ice age was done?" I laughed more at this. Steve's eyes were lit up in amazement, watching me laugh even if it was at him. Bucky stepped out of his room, looking at me when he heard my laughter. His brows furrowed but he pushed that away and smiled at me.

"What are we laughing at?" He asked calmly. I smiled over to him.

"About how Steve was frozen like a caveman from the Ice age." I giggled, Bucky looked confused for a moment and chuckled. "Wait what about you? Were you frozen as well?" Bucky froze up at my question. He looked uncomfortable. Like he didn't know if he wanted to answer my question. I instantly felt bad for asking him anything, wanting to take it back, but he smiled slightly.

"In a way, I suppose." He stepped over to me, "Are we able to eat now? I'm starved." I nodded happily. It was nearly 4pm already. The day went by fast with the ceremony and speech, then cleaning up and relaxing. The boys must be starving, I was more used to this life style. We had our fasting rituals and such we lived by, so not eating since last dinner wasn't that bad for my people.

"Yes, lets go eat. I'm sure Natasha and Clint are already waiting for us." Bucky grinned at me, I don't know where he puts all of this food. He seems to always be thinking about it. Steve came up to me and grabbed my hand, shocks going up my arm from his touch. I smiled over at him as Bucky started to lead us to the dining area. I was a bit shocked that Bucky seemed to know where he was going, but then again, when food is on the line I suppose.
