Prompt: Bucky wakes from a nightmare, and is only willing to come out if he talks to you. But you're out on a mission, or so he thought.

Bucky woke up shaking and sweating. His mind was racing through a million different thoughts, all of which had to do with the nightmare that just occurred. The dream had been of him as the winter soldier once again, he had killed all of his friends and you, his girlfriend.

Once he shot up he looked around the room, searching for you. He needed a sort of reassurance that you were still alive, that the beast inside of him didn't kill you while he was asleep. As he searched and search the compound to find you, his mind slowly came back to reality, causing him to realized that you left 3 days ago for a mission and wouldn't be back for another two days. Bucky walked back the his and yours shared room, upon closing the door he sunk down and started to cry.

The horrible thought of your currently state, scared him. Almost just as much as it scared him for you to be dead by his own hand. His cries got worse within minutes and his cries could be heard throughout the hall. So much so that Steve, the only other person with a room on the floor, he heard Bucky's cries and ran for his room. A knock was sounded at the door, but Bucky did not reply, he couldn't face anyone right not. Especially whoever was on the other side of the door.

"Buck? It's Steve. Let me in, I just want to help you." But there was no answer.

Minutes passed on like this, Steve constantly asking for the door to be opened and Bucky not answering. Until he finally answered, but it wasn't the answer that Steve had been hoping for from him.

"Stop asking!" he spoke through tears. "I don't want to talk to you. Maybe I'll talk to (y/n), but she isn't here." He started to cry even more as the final words came out of his mouth. And the way he spoke broke his best friends heart. There was nothing he could do to help him, and it hurt him more and more knowing that the one person that could help was probably in the different country.

Steve walked away from his door, taking out his phone to send you a text. '(y/n) I really need you. It's Buck, he's really upset and will only talk to you. Please tell me you are able to call or something.'

Little did he know you were on your way home, you had completed the mission earlier than expected. You were only 15 minutes away from the compound when you had gotten Steve's text, which you immediately answered, since the car was on autopilot. 'I'm actually only a few minutes away, can you manage for 15 minutes?' You answered back.

He was completely shocked by the text he just received from you, but very relieved from it. Now Bucky wouldn't try to lock himself in your guys' room from the next 2 days until you got back. So now Steve went to wait by the door until you walked in.

The car pulled up and as you walked up to the door, you let a sigh of relief out, thankful to just be home and not away anymore. As you approached the door Steve came into view, he took your bags for you and started to carry them into the compound for you. Although once you walked into the light room, he frowned, you had been badly injured while you were away.

"I'll take care of it later, I promise. Now please tell me where he is. I need to make sure he is okay." He nodded to you, leading you to your room. He mouthed a simple good luck to you as he placed your bags down next to the door.

You knocked lightly against the wood of the door, waiting for a reply to come from Bucky. Instead he started yelling to go away, however each time he said Steve's name after yelling to go away, still thinking that Steve was still in the hallway trying to get through to him. No matter how many times he said to go away you refused, mainly because he was blocking the way to your bed, but also because you really wanted to help in. So you were determined to knock until his annoyance got the best of him, and he opened the door.

Finally the door unlocked! And Bucky started to speak "I told you Ste-" He started to yell, but cut himself off after looking up. His eyes were bloodshot and tears were evidently streaming down his face, he looked exhausted to add to the matter. "Doll?" Tears started to stream more and more down his face, as he fell into your embrace.

"Hi baby." You held onto the soldier like your life depended on it, scared that if you let go he'd fall back into another episode.

Bucky cried onto your shoulder, it's been a long time since it was this bad, and it broke your heart. Slowly you led him into the room, completely leaving your bags outside the door since they currently weren't as important as your boyfriend. He sat down on the bed and pulled you close to him, pulling you down to lay with him.

"I thought you weren't going to be back for 2 more days." The words came out muffled and through tears, which thankfully slowly started to fade away.

"I managed to finish it early. It took a lot out of me, but I did it, because being away from you was killing me." Once you finished your sentence Bucky looked up and started to look through all of the injuries you had. Much like Steve did, he frowned wanting to help you, even though in reality he needed it more right now. "We can take care of all of the gashes in the morning, right now I want to help you. Did you have another nightmare? What happened to make you lock yourself in here, love?" You spoke calmly.

At first he didn't answer, he didn't want to relive what happened while he was asleep. No matter how much talking about it was supposed to help, he couldn't bring himself to tell you of how he killed everyone he loved. Especially when one of those people was you.

Instead of pressing the matter too much, you held onto him tighter. However this caused you to wince and let out a groan in pain. He lifted his head from your chest and that's when he started to speak. "As much as I wish to stay here and be held by you, I can't ignore the fact that you are in pain. So, how about I tell you what happened, while you let me clean up your wounds. Does that sound like an okay deal doll?" It took a minute but you nodded in response.

Bucky lifted himself up from the bed, and before you were able to get up he lifted you up into his arms. Proceeding to carry you into the bathroom connected to your guys' room. Placing you on the counter, he grabbed the materials needed to clean up the wounds. He expected it to be bad, but once he lifted your shirt he couldn't believe the amount of actual gashes you had that were lined down your stomach.

Using your finger you lifted his head up giving him a gentle kiss on his lips, as a way of saying it was okay. He just simply nodded and continued on. In the middle of patching one of them up he started to talk of his nightmare.

"It was really bad doll. There was blood everywhere, it completely covered my hands. Bodies laid across the floor, I could hardly walk without stepping on one. The worst part of it all was they were all people I knew, people I was close with... Steve, Wanda, Nat, Sam even, and more. Although it horrified me when I couldn't find you, I had hoped not to find your body but also not to find you. However once I did, he came back. And-and." He couldn't finish the sentence, but you easily understood what he was getting at. "I woke up after it happened, so I started to look for you. Once I couldn't find you I realized you were on a mission and I broke down. I just want - needed you."

Tears had started streaming down his face once again.

"Hey, look at me." He looked up and you placed your hand on his cheek. "I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere. Not even he can take me away from you, I promise. Now how about we head to bed, because you and I are both extremely tired."

Bucky lifted you up once again, carrying you into the bedroom. Laying himself and you down on the bed, he held you on his chest this time. Clinging on like if he didn't he would loose you. Quickly you fell asleep, leaving the soldier to listen to the sound of your slowed breathing to lull him back to sleep. This time being more peaceful than the last one.
