"Alison!" Serena begged me, "Please don't leave me!"
Her words didn't matter. The soldiers kept forcing her away from me and into the waiting black car. I struggled against the soldier holding me back as well. Serena's bright blonde hair was pulled by one of the soldiers and her blue eyes squinted in pain. "Serena!" I yelled then pushed the soldier off of me with two hands, "Let go of me! I need to get my sister!"
The soldier turned to me and asked, "What are you going to do for her? Huh? She's four and you're only seventeen. You can't provide for her."
"Then let me go with her! She's just a kid and you guys are scaring her!" I screamed.
I watched as they forced my little sister into the car and they quickly drove away. Leaving me with the soldier that held me back on the street. "I'm sorry but it's out of my hands. Hernandez expects you back in the office in five minutes. He wants you to file some paperwork about the new weapon system going online in Brazil," the soldier told me.
"Quiet! She fell asleep a few minutes ago," Nyra told someone.
Her loud voice woke me up but I was too tired to actually sit up. I stayed still and just tried to go back to bed. "Well, it's time for you to fall asleep too. Go ahead and head to your room," the voice of the Pharaoh told her.
"Aiden what's wrong?" She asked him.
"Who said something's wrong?" He retorted.
She scoffed and replied, "Your face does. What happened?"
"I just saw your mom," he admitted to her.
My interest was peaked and most of my tiredness miraculously disappeared. Wasn't her mom a goddess? "In that case, I'm glad I was on watch," Nyra sneered.
"Don't worry. Your charm will still prevent her from contacting you in person," he reassured her.
"It better," she said, "What did the witch want?"
He was silent for a moment then answered, "My father wants us to discover what Alison is."
"Ra doesn't even know what she is?" Nyra replied totally shocked.
"Apparently not. He's not too happy about it either," he informed her, "He wants Thoth to tell him what she is."
"But you made a deal with Thoth. You have to hide him from everyone... including the other gods," she reminded him.
He let out a sigh and replied, "You think I don't know that? The thing is even I can't ignore a direct order from Ra."
"So what are you going to do?" She inquired.
"I'm gonna take her to Thoth... personally," the Pharaoh answered.
Nyra gasped and questioned, "Is that a good idea? You have the terrorists in your backyard. What could happen if they find out you left? They could end up taking the capital."
"That's why you're the only one that's going to know I'm gone," the Pharaoh said.
"What? Are you insane?" She hissed.
"It's the only thing I could think of. This way I don't have Thoth or Ra mad at me or trying to kill me, and the rebels won't take over the empire," he proclaimed.
"I can't be the only one who knows! I know you mainly talk to me but you do talk to other people. How am I going to convince everyone that you're just in your room or something?" She responded.
"Byron had to leave anyways. Other than you he's the only one I talk to," he tried to convince her.
There was a long pause and finally, she said, "Fine! But you owe me."
"Don't I always," he said happily, "Now go get some sleep. You've got a lot of lying to do tomorrow."
After that, I heard Nyra walk out the door. The doors floated back into place and the Pharaoh called out, "I know you're awake."
I let out a groan and sat myself up. My blonde hair fell into my face and I had to brush it back. I looked at the shirtless Pharaoh and felt a blush rise up my neck. I quickly looked away and asked, "How'd you know?"
"No one can sleep through Nyra's greetings," he told me.
I laughed a bit and nodded in agreement. "She is a bit loud," I agreed.
"She is," he replied, "But she doesn't quite know that so let's keep it a secret... shall we?"
I nodded and asked, "Like how you're going to be gone is a secret?"
"Like us being gone," he answered, "I'm taking you with me."
"I don't think that's a good idea," I said, "I'd just slow you down."
"We're going so Thoth can tell us what you are. We can't exactly do that without you," he responded.
I bit my bottom lip and thought about the possibilities of me being able to weasel my way out of this trip. I don't want to go. I also don't want this demigod in front of me to make me go blind. "Fine... when do we leave?" I inquired.
He crossed his arms over his chest and a glint of intelligence shined in his gray eyes. His eyes ran over my face and he answered, "At dawn. Get some rest. I'll wake you up when it's time to go," he told me.

Random"What are you?" he asked me with suspicion. I was taken a bit off guard by his words and stuttered out, "I...I don't know." Alison doesn't know what she did to deserve the torture that she goes through. In fact, she doesn't even understand the tortu...
