"i know, right? I'm glad we're still pretty close despite the fact that you're busy with college and I'm busy with school." haneul smiled back
"i mean i could sneak into your classes if you miss me between them" he said, wiggling his eyebrows

it was beautiful and romantic. a midnight-ish date in the dunkin' donuts parking lot. so ideal and so magical, hitting each other with their donuts then mourning over the loss of the edible (haneul totally didn't do this)

"han," minho called out, the playfulness in his tone long gone, "are you sure about.. you know, the case?"

she sighed and nodded, "I've always had an uneasy feeling about it. i mean, how could the police search the whole house and not find the suicide note then? and why did the neighbors hear screaming? it's always bugged me, you know?"

minho squeezed her hand a light squeeze and kissed the crown of her head, "i hope you don't get involved in dangerous shit"

"it's not like I'm doing dr-ggpfft" her sentence was cut short and inaudible because of minho's free hand that covered her mouth

"shh, i think there's someone watching us"

he looked around with a frown and took his hand off haneul's mouth.
"don't look now, but i think that person is behind that tree"

and of course, haneul being haneul, turned around but before she could even catch a glimpse of the person, her face was pulled by two hands that cupped it

"i said don't look" minho said and leaned down to give her a kiss

surprised and taken aback, the girl hit the boy's arm to give him a signal to pull away. thankfully, minho pulled away but he gave her a smirk
"i guess donuts with jam arent that bad"

before haneul could say something in return, minho patted her arm and muttered a lets go

she followed him to the tree where he said the man watching them was, now gone. minho bent down and picked up a tiny, brown journal.

"looks like we got our first clue"
