The Origin of the Time Eater

A tale to Mephiles

Shadow was with Rouge and Omega in G.U.N's base in the archive's room. After the mision the decide to investigate more about the latest events, well ... Shadow and Rouge were looking, Omega was just in a corner trying not to blow everything up. Omega was a battle robot, his research was only based on analyzing and finding the weak points of his enemies, although for some reason, he sometimes showed feelings, Eggman, his creator, had a strange tendency to create robots with emotions. Omega looked at both of them expecting some kind of reaction. Suddenly Rouge starts the conversation with a sigh after long hours of silent reading:

-How long have we been here? We weren't given a mision in hours, I don't get how they prentend us to be here staying still in the base. Did you find something?

-If I had found something I would be the one who broken the silence.

I know, but I wanted to give you the chance tos ay it first.

Shadow looked surprise at his partner:

-What do you found?

-Not much, actually. Just some stories about demons called Mephiles.

-Demons, his name is from a demon –Said Omegan, trying to undertand the situation better.

-But we already knew that,- said Shadow disappointed. –Tails told us that the species he chose was called that and came from a demon.

-And you didn't think it was something weird?

-Everything about that thing is weird, Rouge.

-Well, then you should be interested in this. There are descriptions of this creature as a tragicomic figure, caught between his victory by making the great masses stop considering God at the center of all things, and his defeat by losing his relevance for the same reason. In the graphic aspect, Mephistopheles has been shown as the most refined representation of evil, being characterized with lavish clothes typical of the nobility and with a cold, rational mind and with a high level of logic, which he would use to mentally trap people and make them follow his designs.

-And why are you talking to me about this?

-You said it was his name that made him choose to be a pudu. That means that name has to be something important, and considering what it says here, don't you think it could mean that we are facing something worse than we imagine?

It hadn't occurred to him, his worried expression came back to him, if Rouge was right, Mephiles may be more dangerous than he imagine. But Omega intervened.

-Your logic has a circumstantial error. Demons are mythological creatures, they do not exist in reality.

The hedgehog's concern was somewhat relieved, until Rouge refuted the robot.

-I never said that Mephiles was or not a demon, I just said that the meaning of that name can have a matter in this situation.

-If what you say is true. -Shadow tries to follow the conversation. -Is it possible that he is lying to us?

-I don't think so, his description speaks of intelligence and slyness, I don't think someone like that is so clueless as to give us his name. But if his memory is linked to this name, we can have problems.

-For now, we should not jump to conclusions, we must-

An alarm interrupted the phrase of the black hedgehog, it was time to go home. Shadow remembered that during all this time Cream and Vanilla would be at his house, and after the conversation with Rouge, he thought that it would be better for him to come back as soon as possible.

-We will continue with this next time, for now we must go back, now!
