Chapter 8

Who is the stranger that can make Pratibal and Idara reconsider? And how does she know Maeve?

"I think you should reconsider." said a feminine voice coming from the entrance.

"And who are you?" asked Pratibal with his hand bridge over the eyes, so he could see who he was speaking to.

"A person that can make you change your verdict!' she said approaching the stage, more lights making their way into her direction, so everyone could see her. She was a blonde girl with ocean blue eyes, dressed in a beautiful attire that made her even more charming.

Regan already knew she was an air sign. She resembled both Aanvindr and Pratibal in her features and demeanor.

"I'm Deyanira, Daughter of the Air. I come from a District that values justice and truth and right now, all I see is that two criminals getting away with their actions!" she said, looking directly at him, then turning to the people:

"But what makes me angrier is that you people, let them! It was not the time, these boys almost ruined a sacred tradition going for generations! I know it was entertaining, but think about what kind of ruler do you want to have? One that plays fair, but is ready to kill when there is no other way or one that will not even hesitate?!"

The public looked at each other, whispers being told in all the building.

"Well, that should be enough! What do you want lady?"

"Simple.I want the people to vote!"

The people were excited by the idea and started cheering.

"Fine by me. But the game leader has the last word!" announced  Pratibal. He left his place on stage and came over to Idara. She appeared to be whispering in his ear, even if she was considered mute.

"How the tables have turned! Now, these children's destinies are in your hands! Raise your hand if you vote that Regan, Coral and Acantha should win." he said taking his place on stage.

There was a pause, but then more and more hands were raised.

"With this finished,I declare Regan, Coral and Acantha's team the winners of the first trial!"

Coral took both Acantha and Regan in a strong group hug, both Acantha and Regan looking at each other in disbelief, over Coral's shoulders.

"This.Is.Not.FAIR!We won! Why would you do that?Do you not want one of your people to rule or something?!" yelled Aarush at her.

"If he will act like a leader next time and not a fraud, he will absolutely have all the support he needs. And his allies will be in favor too." she said calmly.

Anvindr patted Aarush's back in comfort because his face became all red.

"Now, the winners will get the bonuses that were promised, that they could use in the next rounds and a little advice! The contestants that lost are invited to leave the stage."

The boys were led out by the same guards that pushed some of them onto the stage. Out of nowhere, three clouds appeared on top of them.

"Choose one and you are free to go back home and enjoy the time until the next round!"

Acantha took the first one in her sight, a cloud was following Coral until she took it, and Regan had to use her powers to get the one left, who was the hardest to catch.

"Now that the show is over, tomorrow we expect you to be ready for what we have in store for the Summer Festival!", and with that, the first round was officially over.
