Tim and I walked down the halls fo Mid Wilshire to the Roll Call room, he opened the door and let her go first. She took a seat in the back of the room and he took his spot on the podium.

"Morning everyone. We have some fresh meat today." He gestures to the 3 candidates that say where I did 2 years ago. Not knowing that day would be the day my life changed forever, "after going through the academy you have earned a spot as a Rookie. That however does not mean you get to stay. That will be up to your Training Officer to decide." I looked at the three rookies. Two younger females and one male. One female looks scared to death where as the other looks determined and the male well quite frankly he looks out of place. But so did Jackson , so there's that and he grew up in a cop family. "You will follows the rules, listen to whatever wisdom your TO gives to you and soak it in. Because 1 year goes by faster than you think. Have a seat."
"First up we have Officer Mitchell Reed, you will be riding with Officer Bradford." I inwardly groan.
"Um, excuse me but isn't that your name?" He asks.
"I'm a Sergeant not a officer. Officer Bradford is my wife. Anymore questions boot?" I look up at him and give him a smirk.
"Officer Mia Burk you will be with Officer Jackson West and Officer Allison Green, you will be with Officer Nolan." He nods. "Okay, today is your first day out there on the streets. Stay vigilant and remember listen to your TOs they just may save your life. Dismissed. Officer Reed a word with you." Tim announces.

Tim's POV
"Officer Reed a word with you." I know Lucy's going to hate me for this but I have to tell him what I told Officer West for a year straight when he rode with Lucy. "This is off the record for one. For 2 if you tell Officer Bradford I said this you are going to wish you didn't. She comes back or you wish you didn't come back. Do you hear me?" I say to him.
"Yes sir." He says with a little bit of a stutter.
"Good now off you go." I tell him.
I'm a little over protective of Lucy but that's because damn has she been through a lot. Two times I thought she was going to be taken from me and I vowed to never let that happen again. We have 2 beautiful kids and I could never do it without her. Sometimes I want to ask her to become a stay at home mom. Then I see the joy in her eye after a good takedown and hear how much she loves being an officer. And it would be selfish of me to ask her to give that up.

Lucy's POV
"Let's go boot." I tell Mitchell.
I show him where to get our gear and how to inspect a shop before duty, after every suspect leaves it, went over what we should always have, shot gun safety, and then we tested our body cams.
"Lastly you need to make sure your ready for this. Your about to step into the streets with a loaded gun. Your going to have split seconds to make decisions. You are the enemy in the eyes of some very dangerous people." I tell him. Very seriously remembering what I went through my rookie year. "Are you sure your ready for this?"
"Yes ma'am." He says.
"Get in." I nod my head at the car. He heads to the passenger seat and I get in the driver seat.
We are driving down the road and he is look vigilantly and I decide to do exactly what Tim did me on my first day.
I slam on the breaks, "QUICK IM SHOT WHERE ARE WE?"
"Uh, uh," he looks as panicked as I did when Tim did this to me. I think back to it and I smile a little.
"And now I'm dead." I throw my hands up in the air. "How am I supposed to trust you if you don't know where we are?"
"I-I'm sorry." His head falls low. I almost feel bad but I don't show it. I already know what Tim told him this morning. The same thing he told Jackson for a year when we were partners. But I would never tell Tim I know it.
"Listen. I know what Ti— Sergeant Bradford told you this morning, don't let him, you know, scare you." I say with a shrug.
"He didn't—" I cut him off.
"Yes he did , he used to tell my partner Officer West it everyday before shift... I would never tell him I know, but I do."
"It makes him feel better knowing I'm out here. We've been through a lot..." that is the understatement of the year.
"Okay," he says. I let out a breath of air.
"7-Adam-19 theres a DV in progress, 321 LaCrosse St." I flip my lights on and follow the directions on the computer.
"Go ahead, boot." I nod at the radio.
"7-Adam-19 put us in route ETA 3 minutes."  He radios in. We arrive on scene and walk up to the door. I knock and a man answers the door. He appears drunk and wobbly.
"Can I help you." He slurs.
"I got a compliant about yelling and was sent to check on you. Is there anyone else in the house sir?" I ask trying to appear around him. That's when I hear a yell. "I'm going to have to ask you to move aside sir." I gesture at my boot to go in first.
He takes the lead. We walk in and everything's clear. I walk around and check the rooms. I hear someone thumping on the wall. I follow the sound. I come to a door and slowly twist the door knob. The sound gets louder, "LAPD," I then pull the door open and woman has her hands up. A fat lip, a hand print on her arm. I have a flash back to when Emmett would hurt me and I see myself cowering in a corner.
"Officer Bradford, I'm all," he stops mid sentence, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Go arrest that man, now." I roughly demand my boot, "for assault and battery."
"7 Adam 19 requesting medical."
"Yes-s ma'am." He scrams. I hear him and the man grunting and head down the hallway. I pull the guy off Reed and slam him down a little rough. "7 Adam He gets the upper hand and goes on top of me when Reed, "stop now or i shoot." The guy puts his hands up and I see Officer Reed pointing a gun at him. I place the man under arrest.

Later after booking our guy Tim walks up to me.
"Hey howd it go." He asks.
"Good, DV victim. Officer Reed had my back." I smile at him.
"Oh really," he raises an eyebrow at me.
"Yeah."
"So I didn't put you in the hands of an idiot?" He asks.
"No babe, he did fine," I put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Want to grab lunch?" He smiles.
"I'll text you before we go." I lean and kiss him, "I love you."
"I love you too, you be safe out there okay." I smile at him.

We get in the car and Officer Reed looks at me, "that was, WOW."
"Wow, really freaking stupid." I look at him.
"What do you mean?"
"You don't pull a gun on a criminal, while anyone is wrestling with themes ESPECIALLY, a police officer."
"What if you fired and it went through him and hit me. What if we moved too quickly and the bullet hit me instead." I yell at him.
"I, I'm sorry."
"Secondly, you wouldn't go for your gun on a hand to hand combat, I better not see your finger even inch towards that gun unless your attacker has a gun himself, so you understand me." I snap at him.
"Yes-s ma'am." He looks down at his hands.

Later that night I'm sitting down writing my evaluation and I don't know if I should put what happen in it... Tim will lose his shit. I could cause him to washout.
I look out in the hallway to see if anyone's around and I call Angela.
"Hello," she answers.
"Hey Ang, I need some advice." I chew on the edge of my nail.
"Sure, what's up."
"What did you do when Jackson froze under fire? Did you put it in the report?"
"Whats going on Lucy?"
"My boot, he pulled a gun on a perpetrator today... but it wouldn't have been a clear shot... I was right under the guy." I sigh.
"You need to put it.. he put you I'm direct danger because he was stupid. Did the guy have a weapon?"
"No he was just wrestling me because I was trying to wrestle him. It wasn't even intense." I shake my head remembering.
"Tim will throw him out of the department for-sure. He's been extra overprotective these last few months." I tell her.
"Look if Jackson's dad wasn't who he was I probably would have put it in the eval. But look at him now. Do you think it was first day jidders or he was gun happy?" She asks. "Mila, no that's mommy's! I got to go Luce, good luck!" And she clicks. I smile a small smile at my goddaughters antics and look down.
I write my evaluation and walk down to Tim's office.
"Hey, I finished Officer Reed's eval." I hold the envelope up and sit down. I look around his office and my eyes land on the picture of Tim, Logan, Lila and I. I smile and think about where we started and where we are now. Tim has been a great sergeant so far. "Will you be home soon?"
We had the basement remodeled to let Tamara move in and be the live in nanny. She's been a great addition to the family. The kids love her and it makes getting to work quicker and easier. "Yeah, I just need to get the files on a few gang members over to Lopez and I'll be home. We're going to be assisting them in a take down on a local gang soon."
"Good, can't wait." I walk over and wrap my arms around his neck. "See you at home." I miss him and he holds my hips.
"Why don't you go slip into something sexy and I'll meet you in the bedroom." He leans in and kisses my lips then my jaw and lastly my neck.
"That is the best thing I've heard all day." I smile and kiss his lips.
