It's been a week, and I haven't seen Grayson or Ethan. I can't believe I'm leaving tomorrow. Abbie has helped me pack but it's weird.
My dad told me that we were only going to be gone for a little while. The only problem is: some peoples definition of 'a little while' is different than others.
"Hey. Liz!" I snap back to reality. "Do you want to wear this," she holds up a black/grey skirt and a white tank top," or this," she holds up shorts and a purple tank top. "Um... Skirt, and..." I look through the bin of colder weather clothes,"This." I pull out the grey sweater. "Spokane's cold, you know." She rolls her eyes. "I still can't believe you're moving to Spokane. I mean, you're obsessed with that movie..." I glare at her,"Red Dawn? And I know. Spokane." It's silent for. A minute. "It sounds weird." We laugh.
We the talk about nonsense for an hour or so. "I actually have to go now. Sorry." Abbie gives me a hug. "I'll see you tomorrow when you leave for the airport." I fake a smile,"Bye Abbs."
~
"Elizabeth! We have to go!" I sigh, and grab my carry-on. I look around my empty room. "This is so weird." I whisper. I sigh, and head downstairs with my phone in hand.
"Coming!" I yell. Ella is heading out the front door with fifty bags (I swear). I start walking out the door, and my mom grabs my arm. "I know you're mad about this, Elizabeth, but it's going to work out for the good. I promise." I fake a half-smile,"I guess." I head out side and don't pay attention. I know this walkway by heart, I mean I have been living here my whole life.
"Liz." I look up. It's Grayson and Ethan and Abbie. "What are you guys doing here?" I look at what's in their hands. Bags. "With bags..." I raise and eyebrow, and wait for one of them to answer. "Surprise?" Abbie shrugs. I just laugh. There's nothing else to do. I give each of them a hug. "So what's going on exactly?" The twins load our stuff in the back of their parents car. "You're parents asked us if we wants to come help you guys settle in." I smile,"Fun."
~
Security takes forever, and the airports crowded. Is everyone in New Jersey leaving today? I mean seriously.
We finally make it to our gate, just as people are boarding the plane.
When we get seated, Abbie decides to start braiding my hair. I sit by the window, Abbie next to me, and Ella at the aisle. My mom and the boys sit behind us. My dad is already in Spokane. He left last night.
The plane ride was long and boring. But then we got to Spokane.
~
"So this is our new house?" I got out of the car followed by Abbie and the twins. "I guess so." Abbie follows me to the front door. My dads in there, so I just knock on the door.
"Elizabeth!" My dad gives me a hug. "Hi?" He's hugging me too tight, so I can't really move. He lets me go,"Go pick your room before Ella. There's one downstairs, and two upstairs. Go pick." I look either go down the stairs to my right, it up the one to my left.
~
I choose to go downstairs, which means that I basically get the whole basement to myself. Which is great. I head downstairs, with my friends right behind me. I open the door to the rift of the stairs, and laugh. "Yup. That's not where my room is." Abbie looks from behind me,"Liz. That's the garage." I close the door,"No? You say?" We laugh and this time I turn right. There's a decent size open room, then to the right of that another door. I open the door, and it is my room. "Finally." I whisper.
It's a pretty big room. There's a small window in the corner, and it's pretty dark, so we turn on the light.
~
"Honey!" I can barely hear it. Was that for me? "Elizabeth Marie Jones! Come upstairs right now!" I give my friends a scared look, as I turn to run upstairs. "Yeah?" I yell back as I go up the second flight of stairs.
My mom stands in the kitchen with her hands on her hips. "You didn't reply the first time. Why?" I close my eyes, and fake a smile,"I didn't know if it was for me." My mom starts working on putting dishes away,"Well we don't have out furniture yet so Grayson, Ethan, Abbie, and you will need to sleep in sleeping bags downstairs. Is that okay?" I nod,"Yeah. Totally."
I start heading downstairs, when my mom starts talking to me again,"Oh, and Elizabeth." I turn around on the stair,"Yeah?" She peaks her head around the corner,"I met a neighbor and their daughter is your age. I told them you guys should meet tomorrow." I bite my lip, and raise an eyebrow,"Ohkay?"
~
We spend the night talking and watching movies on Netflix. It was actually pretty fun.
