"Elizabeth! Can you come upstairs real quick?" My mom yells downstairs. It's June, and school is almost over. "Yeah." I say as I run up the stairs. My mom is sitting at the table, motioning for me to sit across from her. I sit,"Yeah. What do you need me for?" My mom looks at the table, and back at me,"Sweetie," she grabs my hands from across the table,"your father and I... we're..." I bite my lip, the tears stinging the back of my eyes,"Getting a divorce?" I add. My mom nods,"Yes, sweetie." I nod,"Can I, uh, go now?" My mom nods. I run downstairs to my room.
I jump onto my bed and cry into my pillow. A few minutes later, I hear soft sobs behind me. I look, it Ella. I take a deep breath, and wipe my eyes. "So you heard too?" She nods, and sits next to me. I hold her.
~
Ella grew up a lot in this past year. She turned thirteen a few weeks ago. She doesn't look thirteen, if anything I do. She's a couple inches taller than me, too.
When my mom told us the news, it was as if Ella was little again. It was strange, but nice.
~
Ella and I stayed hugged each other for a while. We didn't know what else to do.
~
Ella ended up sleeping downstairs with me. The next day was Monday, so I was forced to go to school. Freshman year was coming to an end, thank god.
We had millions of tests this week, since it was the last week of school.
~
"Hey Liz!" Peyton walks up behind me, and wraps his arm around my waist. I jump to the side,"Haha a no." I laugh. He rolls his eyes and laughs.
We walk into Science, and our teacher said we can sit whoever we want, so naturally I sit next to Peyton.
We don't really pay attention. Oops.
~
Peyton and I got off the bus, and started heading toward my house. I'm about to open the door, when I hear yelling.
"You know, I think we should go to Starbucks or something." Peyton looks at me,"Okay?" I nod, and grab his hand. He tenses up, then breathes.
~
"Today was fun." I say while laughing. Peyton looks down at me,"Stating the obvious." I laugh and roll my eyes.
"See ya tomorrow Liz." I smile,"See ya."
I unlock the door and walk in. It was decently quiet, just Ella's music playing from her room.
I walk to her room and poke my head into the door frame,"Hey Ella, where's mom or dad?" Ella lowers her music,"I think Dad left for a little, and I think Mom's on the phone." I nod and smile. "Thanks."
I run downstairs and drop my backpack off in my room, then I run upstairs. I stop outside my parents room, and knock. There is no answer, so I knock again. Yet again, no answer. I crack the door open,"Mo-" my mom is talking on the phone. "yes, I am sure I want to move back. I can not stand it here, not with him." Whoever is on the other end. "Please do not tell the twins yet though." I let out a breathe, and close the door. I run down stairs, and hop on my bed.
Going back to New Jersey? Am I happy or mad?
~
I hear the ding of my phone. I had fallen asleep late last night, while texting Grayson. I turn on the screen and look at all the texts I did not read.
Grayson: it's later here than Spokane!
Grayson: you going to answer?
Grayson: no?
Grayson: okay. I see how it is.
Grayson: goodnight bb <3
I smile. Grayson is... Unique? I then see his text from this morning.
Grayson: good morning bb <3
Me: haha nice spam <3
Grayson: ow. That hurts Lizzy
Me: <3 love you too
Grayson: I wanna ask you a question
Me: if it's dirty I will kill you
Grayson: if I could meet you in one place in spokane where would it be?
Me: I'd say "meet me in the meadow" but that's not happening so haha
Grayson: ;p <3
Me: I should take a shower text you later bb
Grayson: I'll be waiting <3
I laugh, and grab my clothes to take a shower before school.
~
"I'm heading out mom!" I run down the stairs, and barely make the bus.
"Hey Liz!" Peyton scoots over, so I can sit next to him.
I pass Callie, and she gives me a dirty look. "Hey Peyton." When the bus starts moving again, I ask,"Do you know what's up with Callie?" He half smiles,"I don't know, but I think she's jealous of you." I'm taken aback,"Wh-why would she be jealous of me?" He shrugs,"Because you're nice, kind, pretty, happy..." I half smile,"Sure..." I roll my eyes.
~
I am doing my homework when my phone dings.
Grayson: meet me in the meadow ;)
I roll my eyes. It has been a long time since I've been there, maybe I can go for a second. I call my friend Marie, who's a senior.
Me: Hey Marie!
Marie: Hey Liz!
Me: Can you do something for me?
There's a silence.
Marie: As long as it doesn't involve anything stupid...?
Me: Oh trust me, it probably doesn't. At least not for you.
Marie: What is it? Now I'm anxious!
Me: can you drive me to the meadow?
Marie: be there in five.
She hangs up, and I put my hair up into a high ponytail. I look at myself in my mirror, then grab my phone, and head upstairs.
I see car lights outside, so I run out and hop in the front seat. "Hey Liz." I smile,"Hey Marie." Marie starts pulling away, and we make small talk till we get to the field.
I open the door, and breathe in the air of the country. "Do you want me to come?" I shake my head,"I'm good. But thanks, Marie." She nods,"I'm going to get some sleep then." I smile, and get out of the car.
I just walk around for a bit, till I find the trees. I close my eyes, and tilt my head back to the sky. I feel arms wrap around my waist, and someone kisses the top of my head. "Hey baby girl." I open my eyes, and step forward. I put my hand to my mouth. "Oh my god." I mumble. I jump into his open arms. "I missed you." I say into his chest. "I missed you too." he says into my head. I look up and...

"Elizabeth! Elizabeth wake up!" I turn over, and pull my covers over my head,"I'm up. I'm up."
That was just a dream. The whole situation. If only I could meet him in the meadow.
"Honey." I turn back around, and sit up. "Yeah?" My mom sits on the edge of my bed,"Your sister, and you are going back to New Jersey in a week. I am leaving in five days. And us three will live there." I nod,"Okay." My mom stand up, and walks out of my room,"You should get more sleep sweetie."
