The Long Ride Home

The leaving of.....

~next morning

I got up went toward the window. I noticed that dad left. "Yup, he's gone. Figured."
I went downstairs to make breakfast. I made myself a bowl of cereal. I noticed how quiet it was, wow how early is it? I dozed off to find myself staring at the clock. It was 15' after eleven. "Oh, Crap", Im supposed to meet Taylor and Zack at 30' after.
I rushed to grab a basket, and went to the kitchen and got a lot of pb&j sandwiches and grabbed some drinks . Then ran out the house.

~20 mins later

I climbed up the ladder to the tree house. "Hey, sorry I'm late. I wasn't paying attention to the time." "It's ok" Zack said. "So where's them sandwiches?" Taylor said grinning. "Where's my money?" I sarcastically said as I threw a sandwich at him. "Watch it, I'm gonna eat that."he said.
"Hey, I was wondering if you *pause* do you wanna come with me and Zack to the fair this Saturday?" "Sure" I said." It's gonna bee SOO fuin. We went last year and it was awesome, there's so many games and rides!!" Zack yelled excitedly. "Ok ok, calm down I'm sure it will, the way you described it, it's sounds fun." I said,"so sounds like fun." I whispered to Taylor.
"Soo how's your dad doing, with you know, the trucking." Taylor asked. "How is he, he's fine. He had to go back out last night" I responded. "What, again. He just came home like what, a day ago!" "I know, I know but we need the money. Ever since my mom died....." "Wait you had a mom, like I know everyone has a mom, but I thought she left yall. I didn't think she died" Taylor said. "I was five, it was a beautiful morning."

"Mommy, mommy! Can I hold her?" I asked. "Sure you can just be careful." She said.

~end flash back

She handed me Charlie and for the first time I felt like nothing could ruin this family. Nothing just nothing.
