Chapter 10

Keeping watch at the side of the ship was tiring; Your eyes weary from constantly searching the horizon. Were they also playing tricks on you? What was that waving from the centre? Shaking out your daze, your face runs pale.

"What am I doing here?" You shout in a whisper, slightly chuckling.

You pull up your sleeve to look at your watch, almost sighing at the time 7 AM - Jim was still asleep.

Success! The ship has turned around. A sigh left your lips, as you wipe the sweat off your forehead. Your eyes are glued to the planet as it slowly fades from view; loving the way the sky looked like a navy velvet against the warm radiance of the stars. A new panic starts to set in as you picture what Jim will say.

Jim was sitting on the gunwale (edge)  of the boat. You walk out and notice Jim's calm figure slouched, you didn't want to disturb him so you tried to walk as quietly as you could. But the creak in the floorboards brought attention to you.

"Why did you turn around?" He asks, dryness laced through his voice.

"What?" You whisper, slowly approaching him.

You swing your legs over the gunwale and sit as close as you can. Looking at Jim, he found himself warm in the hope of your eyes, you brush a strand of hair away from his face and tilt your head. You drape an arm around his shoulder, while he snakes his around your waist, his head rested on your shoulder; He looks up and admires the way your skin glows in the warm atmosphere.

"Jim, I'm sorry I turned around." You say, sorrow laced through your voice "I came because I was looking for who I was, but..."

"So, I'm guessing you found it?" He cuts in

You nod your head slowly "yes I did, James. Yes, I did" You say proudly.

"Who are you?" He asks.

You ship your body and take his hands in both of yours and start smiling uncontrollably. "In love... with you"

A long sigh of relief left his lips, as all his muscles begun to relax "I'm in love with you too!" he exclaims; happiness curled through him. His eyes held yours and the moment, right then was perfect – filling it to the brim with pure love.

You always thought the way to find out who you was, you'd need to look alone, but were you wrong, and with that, you set off on a new adventure; yours and Jim's adventure!
