Pov Draco

It wasn't long before Carter fell asleep, which didn't strike me considering the amount of incendiary whiskey she had drunk that night. I did not leave the room immediately; I stayed a while longer enjoying the almost total silence of the deserted room if it weren't for the crackling of the fire and Carter's irregular breathing. I stared at her for a while, stared at her face; I had never had the chance to notice her so relaxed and under the soft warm light coming from the fireplace.

Her ash-blonde hair fell in wavy, disheveled locks on her face, against which plump lips stood out. Her face was small, with slightly plump cheeks, but with sweet and delicate features, totally opposite to the hard and pronounced ones on Katrine's face, surrounded by long and smooth brown hair.

Katrine. What I should have done with her. Breaking up with her was the most obvious thing that came to my mind, I would have found someone else to be with, certainly this didn't worry me. But I didn't understand how she had picked any girl over me.

It was with these thoughts that I decided to go back to my dormitory, after all an hour had passed since I left with Potter's friend, without notifying anyone.

It took me a few minutes to walk through the castle to get to the Slytherin common room, despite having to watch out for Filch and her scary cat. When I reached the hall the celebrations were obviously still going on, albeit with far fewer people dancing on the floor and more guys lying on the ground unconscious. The continuous blasting music, however, did not prevent Juliet from noticing my absence and did not prevent me from suffering her paranoid outburst. It happened that during the holidays I remained constantly at the center of attention as it happened as many times that I disappeared for a while. Despite this, there was no time in which I could avoid a reproach from Juliet, worried and angry about my disappearance. So I listened to what the girl had to tell me and then went up to the room with an annoyed air after having dismissed her with the same phrase as always: "I'm fine Juliet. Let me sleep now, I'm sleepy ".

This time she unexpectedly she didn't let me go, in fact she pulled me by the sleeve of my shirt in a secluded place and said quickly, almost eating the words: "Draco, don't leave me like this this time. I noticed who you left with. You and Potter's friend, I've seen you. What's this? Did you need someone to spend the evening with to replace Katrine? "

"But do you feel when you speak, Juliet? Carter and me? I need no idea. You drank too much tonight too, come I'll take you to your room "

"No Draco, I didn't drink too much. For Salazar, whatever he does, don't play with her "

"Now that you are friends with little Carter, are you defending Potter's friend? Okay Juli, I won't play with her. Only the idea disgusts me "

"Shut up," she answered sourly to point out her disappointment. She continued: "I'm going to bed now and better go to you. Malfoy night "

"Night Prince" I retorted, giggling and walking towards the dormitory.

I woke up the next day, still tired from the night before, just before lunch. I opened my canopy and stopped to look around the room for a moment. I noticed Zabini still snoring quietly in her bed and decided to wake him up; being the first to get up and have a little quiet all to myself before the morning hustle and bustle created by my dorm mates didn't mind at all, but I had already skipped breakfast and skipped lunch because of a late Blaise annoyed me.

"Move Zabini or we'll be late" I woke him dryly, and when confused moans of assent were the only answer I received, I headed to the bathroom to get ready.

When we were both ready we tried to make our way to the banquet as quickly as possible, and once we arrived we took our places among the few Slytherins who survived the night before, with their faces destroyed and the obvious after-effects of alcohol.

While I was waiting for the banquet to appear, I had to invent excuses for the questions of those who had noticed my disappearance during the party and who onlookers wanted to know more. I answered everyone with nonchalance and indifference, hiding the truth well, under Juliet's eyes of disappointment.

Suddenly I saw Katrine and Chanelle, her best friend annoying her following her like a house elf, and sitting not far from me. Katrine acted as if nothing had happened and I deduced that she most likely didn't even remember what had happened the night before. The fact is that I stared at her for a while with a thoughtful look, without her noticing it, before Blaise and Theo woke me up and made me return to reality. They tried to distract me by talking about Quidditch or the lessons of the following day, but my brain refused to follow their speeches and my gaze was lost on the crowd of people intent on talking or reading the mail delivered by the owls as they entered the large windows of the room. I watched distractedly at the boys at the tables for a while, until my eyes crossed the Gryffindor table and stopped on Carter, who was staring at me insistently. I gave her a grin no different from my usual grin and looked away. As the food appeared on the table with a little pop, I wondered why Carter was staring at me like that. She probably had some strange ideas after the last night, even if she wasn't stupid enough to imagine a happy ending with me, it would be ridiculous. I doubted whether it was not the case to clarify with her too.
