Early Sunsets Over Monroeville

A/N: this is based off a my chemical romance song, so credit for the story title and plot goes to them! this will be angsty, so if you don't like angsty stuff i'd suggest reading some of my fluff chapters instead :)

Late dawns and early sunsets. Just like my favorite scene.

You and Thalia were sitting on top of an overhang, watching the sun as it set over the city. Thalia was deathly afraid of heights, so you were sitting quite far away from the edge. As the sun sets, it casts a shadow over the city. You watch as the sky slowly turns from orange to pink as the sun sets over the horizon.

Then holding hands and life was perfect. Just like up on the screen.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" You ask as you look over at Thalia. The sunset casted a pinkish shade across her face, making her look angelic. Thalia looks over at you and smiles, which made you smile back, Thalia had that effect on you. She reaches over and takes your hand in hers.

"It's not nearly as beautiful as you," Thalia says as she leans closer to you, your lips only a few inches apart. "I could stare at you for eternity and I'd never get tired of it."  You smile involuntary as Thalia compliments you. You stare into her electric blue eyes, they were was mesmerizing as the first time you saw them.

"You're the beautiful one, Thalia..." You say. Thalia smiles and tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear.

"Oh, definitely not. You're much more beautiful than me, no competition." Thalia replies.

"That's not true, you're much more beautiful" You argue. Before you start arguing over who's more beautiful, Thalia leans in and closes the distance between your lips. Your eyes flutter shut and you melt into it. After a few seconds, she pulls away and smiles at you, which causes you to smile back.

And the whole time while always giving. Counting your face among the living.

You go back to watching the sun set, hand still in Thalia's. As the sun gets lower on the horizon, the apocalypse starts. You see someone gimping down the road, but you just brush it off. But then you see the horde of people gimping after someone. She shake Thalia's arm and point it out to her, she follows your gaze and her eyes widen. You two watch in horror as the creates catch up and start feasting on their prey. You sit there in shock, was this really happening?

"Y/n! Come on!" Thalia urges, she helps you to your feet and you take off running. Whatever those things were, you didn't want them to see you.

Up and down escalators. Pennies and colder fountains.

"Those things were zombies, weren't they!" You ask Thalia as you run.

"I-I think so! I know somewhere we can hide out!" Thalia replies. You were scared shitless, but as long as you had Thalia by your side, you could pull through.

As you run, you see more and more corpses walking the streets, luckily you're able to get by without them noticing.

Thalia stops in front of an abandoned mall and catches her breath. You do the same, looking over your shoulder to make sure there's no zombies roaming by.
