Second Kiss

You were leaning against the porch railing of the Big House. Your best friend, Piper McLean, was standing next to you.

Piper leans against the rail, causing you to look over at her. You were horrible at small talk, but you thought that you'd give it a shot. "So, who did you want your first kiss to be?"

Piper looks over at the cabins before answering. "Honestly? I always wanted it to be Jason." She shudders. "I can't believe I ever liked men, ew." You crack a smile as she looks over at you. "You?"

You examine the ice cubes in the cup of your lemonade. "Well, I guess we have something in common. We both wanted a child of Zeus to be our first kiss."

Piper stares at you before realizing what you meant. "Holy shit! You like Thalia?"

"Shh! She might hear you! But yes, I do like her"

Piper stares at you in shock. "Thalia's hot! Why haven't you asked her out yet?"

You shrug. "It's not like she'll ever like me back, y'know?"

Piper stares off in the distance and nods. "Do you have idea why she quit the hunt?"

"No clue..."

You stand in silence for a while before Piper turns to you and smiles. "You know what? Why don't we kiss?"

You could feel her charm speak power flowing over you. You didn't think she was using it on purpose, but her voice was so calming, you wanted to kiss her. 

"Yeah, I'm down for it. Let's do it." You say involuntary.

Piper raises an eyebrow. "You jumped at that a bit fast. Oh gods, am I accidentally using my charm speak on you? Are you sure that you actually want to kiss? I don't want to kiss you without your consent."

Her charm speak wears off, and you realize that you don't actually want to kiss her. But at the same time, you didn't know if you would get the chance to have your first kiss again. Why not? A part of your brain says. Thalia isn't interested in you anyway, right?

"I'm sure." Piper smiles and leans in to close the distance in between your lips.

Today was the day. Thalia had finally built up the courage to ask you out on a date and she was on her way to ask you. When she checked in your cabin and you weren't there, she started looking around camp for you. She searched the camp until there was only one more place to look, the Big House. As she makes her way over to it, she thinks about how she's going to ask you. As she nears the Big House, she looks up from the movie tickets that she had bought for the two of you, and her heart shatters into a million pieces. She watches in shock as you and Piper kiss. The sadness that was building up inside of her quickly turns to jealousy. That should've been her. She's had a crush on you for the longest amount of time, not Piper. She quit the hunters of Artemis for you, not Piper. She chews on the inside of her cheek as she watches, not believing her eyes. She wanted to scream, but she knew that that wouldn't help. She turns and walks back to the Zeus cabin, which gives her plenty of time to get more and more jealous. When she passes through the threshold of the Zeus cabin, she shrugs her leather jacket off and throws it to the ground. She runs her fingers through her hair as she paces back and forth. This wasn't fair, she should've been the one kissing you. Why did the fates have to be so cruel? The jealousy swells up inside her chest until she can't take it anymore. Just then, Jason walks in. He was visiting camp and he'd just gotten done training. He sees Thalia pacing, she looked agitated. Thalia stops mid pace and looks at her brother. She didn't want Jason to be worried about her, so she calms down.

It was too late, he was already worrying. He raises an eyebrow. "You okay?"

"No. She kissed her..." Jason already knew about Thalia's crush on you, so she was hoping that she wouldn't have to explain any further.

Luckily, Jason knew what she meant. "Jeez Thalia, I'm so sorry..." He holds his arms open for a hug.

Thalia welcomes his embrace. "I feel like shit. I should be happy for her, but instead I'm so overwhelmed with jealousy that I can't think straight."

"Hey, it's okay. You have every right to feel jealous. It'll pass eventually. I know it's hard, but it gets better."

They hug in silence for a few seconds until Jason pipes up. "Who did she kiss?"

"Piper..."

Jason flinches at the name. He used to be in a relationship with Piper until they broke up. She found out that she didn't like men, which he was totally okay with, he was happy for her. "I'm so sorry Thalia... But why don't you try to talk to y/n? Maybe she's not attracted to Piper, maybe you still have a chance, and you can't pass chances up."

Thalia smiles. "When did you become the supportive sibling? That's supposed to be me."

Jason smiles back and pulls away. "Hey, we can both be the supportive siblings. Now, go talk to y/n about your feelings."

When you kissed Piper, you felt absolutely nothing. There were no sparks or anything, it just felt awkward.

 Piper pulls away and smiles, you frown. You didn't want to tell Piper that the kiss was good, you didn't want to lead her on. "I'm sorry, I don't think that this is gonna work out. I still have feelings for Thalia, I'm sorry."

"Hey, that's totally okay! I wish you the best of luck with the whole Thalia situation."

You smile. "Thank you, really."

"No problem. See you around, y/n!" And with that, she jogs away, leaving you alone to sort out your feelings.

You were currently sitting at the edge of the strawberry fields, the sun was just setting over the horizon, casting shadows over the camp. You stare at the strawberries, not sure of what to do. You feel the presence of someone next to you, you turn your head to look as Thalia sits down next to you.

You put on an awkward smile. "Hey."

Thalia forces a smile. "Hey. So... do you like Piper?"

You could feel yourself blushing from embarrassment, she saw you and Piper kiss? "You were spying on us?"

"No, of course not. I was just walking around camp, and I saw you two... do you like her?"

You shake your head. "No. When we kissed, I didn't feel anything. Besides, I still have feelings for someone else..."

"Oh..." Thalia gets up. You had feelings for someone else, and there was no chance that it could be her, you were way out of her league. "I gotta go. I'll talk to you later, okay?" She begins walking away, but you get up and follow her.

"Wait! Why are you leaving?"

"I don't wanna talk about it..."

You follow her until you're by the pavilion. "Thals! Why did you care if I liked Piper?"

Thalia finally stops and turns around. "Can I kiss you?"

You weren't sure if you heard her right. Did she really want to kiss you? You nod your head. Thalia walks over to you and grabs onto your shirt collar. She pulls you forward by your shirt collar and crashes your lips together. This time, you absolutely melt into the kiss. You run your fingers through Thalia's hair as she kisses you. Her hands leave their spot on your shirt collar and wander down to your hips. She pulls you even closer, wanting more. You deepen the kiss as Thalia's hands explore your body.

You reluctantly pull away for air, Thalia gazes into your e/c eyes. "That's why. Now." She pulls out two movie tickets from her pocket. "Would you want to go to the movies with me?"

You could feel yourself grinning. "Of course I would."

Thalia smiles back and presses another kiss to your lips. She might not have been your first kiss, but she was definitely your best second kiss.
