1. Never Have I Ever...Been In A Fairytale.

Devi's POV :

I still can't believe it. I'm dancing with Paxton Hall-Yoshida. His arms wrapped around my waist as he just looks only at my eyes and smiles, this is the longest he's ever looked at me.

"Are you sure you're not hurt anywhere? I feel like we should have you checked out at the hospital."

"No, I'm fine really. My dress is very padded." I shrug before the both of us look at my poofy navy blue dress.

"But can I ask you something?" Paxton nods as he anticipates the question I'm about to ask him. "Did you hit me because I got you hit last time?" I give a smirky grin, hinting that it's a joke question and to no surprise, he understood and chuckled before reaching in to kiss me again.

The amount of kisses I've been having with Paxton is astronomical. This literally feels like a dream that I never want to wake up from.

"I realized I haven't said this to you yet but you look beautiful tonight Lil' D." My lips open up. Did Paxton just say I look beautiful?! "Th-thanks.." I quickly look back down to my dress because boy, this guy really knows how to talk.

...

Paxton went to get us something to drink so while that's happening, I'm happily walking over to Eleanor and Fabiola, who has been waiting for me to just come over.

"Oh my god, Devi. Paxton actually showed for you!" Eleanor says in excitement. "You guys looked perfect when slow dancing. It felt like I was watching a prince and princess."

"Yeah it does feel like everything has been a fairytale the whole night. But guys, Paxton and I are official!"

"Whoa! Really? He's down to date you in public now?" Fabiola questions but Eleanor answers right away. "Of course he's down Fab! He literally walked into the dance, holding Devi's hand. It screams 'I'm Devi's boyfriend'."

Fabiola nods, agreeing that Eleanor made a point. But I realized something. Paxton did say he didn't want to be in a public relationship with me after everything that happened. He'd be seen as a joke to the school. I look around and see Paxton is still pouring our drinks into the cups carefully, like it's his baby.

"Guys, do you think it's a good idea that we're dating in public? I mean, after everything that happened? Like the two-timing?"

I look at the girls for an answer but they just look at me with comforting expressions. Eleanor places her hands on my shoulder, "We'll talk about this later on, just have fun for now because this is the happiest I've seen you lately."

They walk away after waving to Paxton, who's heading towards me with two drinks on each hand. "Alright, we have fruit punch and tropical punch, pick your poison." Paxton smiles devilishly as I look over the cups.

I grab the fruit punch cup and look back up at Paxton, smiling back at him. After saying he can't be in public relationship with me, he still showed. Does this mean he's willing to let me be his public girlfriend? Or are we just going to be happy only tonight? What if -

"Are you okay? Are you getting tired standing?" Paxton looks at my feet that has been wearing high heels all night. He leads me to the closest table, making sure I can lean over something to reduce the weight on my heels.

I look at Paxton as he just bops his head to the music in the background, this guy is absolutely precious to me. "Will you be okay after tonight Paxton?"

He looks at me and nods, patting my hair lightly. That's it though? Just a nod? It's okay Devi...it's still an answer. Maybe he's not comfortable talking about it right now. Just enjoy the night like Eleanor and Fab said.

He grabs my hand and caresses it. Reassuring me that everything will be okay and to not worry about anything tonight. "Stay here alright? I'm going to the bathroom real quick." I nod as I watch Paxton leave the danceroom. I look at the dancefloor to see everyone having fun and dancing.

"Hey, Devi." I turn around to see that it's Ben who just called me. Giving him a small smile as he walks towards me.

"Hey, where's Aneesa?"

"She's at the photobooth with a few of her friends." I nod before looking back to the dancefloor.

"So uh, I see you entered the dance with Paxton. Are you guys just staying as friends now?"

I look at Ben confused but before I could even answer, "Cause I mean friends don't dance and kiss. I'm pretty sure you guys aren't official right?"

"Ben, he's my boyfriend." I give him a big smile, proud that I've said that.

"Are you serious? So even after I told you that that dick doesn't deserve you, you still go for him?"

Did Ben Gross really just said that to me? After I tell him that Paxton's my boyfriend now? Shouldn't he be happy for me?

"Listen Ben, Paxton isn't a dick. He's actually sweet." I answer before turning around, about to leave this table. Ben grabs my wrist, "But what about me?"

Before I can answer though, another hand grabs my wrist, setting it free from Ben's grasp. I look over at the person that came out of nowhere, it's Paxton.

"Ben, you should look for Aneesa. She's been looking for you the whole time." Paxton sternly states, hinting to Ben that he should leave right about now.

Ben looks at me with what seems to be sad eyes. Why is he sad for? Be happy. Oh my god, does he still like me? No way, he's happily dating Aneesa now. Whatever.

I look at Paxton who's been watching Ben walk away until he's not in our sight anymore. "Seems like Ben doesn't see you as an enemy anymore." Paxton states. I chuckle lightly, "Yeah, we're just friends now."

Paxton just looks at me and nods slowly. I notice the concern in Paxton's eyes and grab both his hands. "Pax," he looks at me, "We're just friends." He gives me a smile and nods his head faster now.

"You know, I feel like this whole night has been a fairytale dream."

"Why would this be a dream? This is real life Devi, but like a fairytale with this atmosphere." He twirls me like I'm his princess as we decide to head back to the dancefloor and dance the night away.

Hi hi! Hope you guys enjoyed the first chapter! I finished season two of NHIE in a span of five hours and wanted season three right away. Obviously we'd have to wait for about a year if they get renew so for now, our imagination is all we got!
