Devi's POV :
It's been about a month since Paxton and I agreed together about this break and honestly, I feel like it's been helping us both. Although we're not together, we're working things out as close friends...with some flirting of course.
*ping*
I look at my phone, to see Noah has texted me. I place my book down on the bed and grab my phone to see what he text.
Hey, did you do #23 on our science homework? I'm struggling on it.
I just shake my head with a smile as I respond to his text. I know what you might be thinking, but we're just friends. Besides, this is the whole point of the break. Paxton is learning to trust me and vice versa for me, which has been going well. We've also been comfortable in communication with what bothers us.
I hear another notification. Must be Noah asking for a picture of the homework so I grab my phone, but it's actually Paxton. My smile got bigger as I open our text message to see his text.
Hey cutie. What are you doing?
I'm doing biology homework loser, what about you?
Thinking about you.
Eww. Stop it, will ya?
Lol, never. It's past midnight, why are you still doing homework?
Right when I was going to respond to his question, my screen became an incoming phone call from Paxton. Even though we've dated for a bit and been close for a while, I somehow still get butterflies whenever he calls me.
"Hello?"
"How far in are you with your biology homework?"
"I have one more question then I'll be done. Why, what's up?"
"Nothing, just wanted to talk to you."
I can literally hear his flirty voice through the line as I can feel my face burning up.
"Oh really now? Just a second ago you said it was past midnight." I tease him.
"Yeah, past midnight to do homework. Not past midnight to talk to me."
I just laugh to what he said and plop myself flat onto my bed, this guy just makes me feel so light.
"You miss me, huh Pax?"
Silence. Did I go too far? My brows furrow, thinking of what to say to divert the awkwardness.
"Yeah, I miss you a lot right now. You better not make me climb over your window tonight."
I blush, "You wouldn't."
...
I wake up from my mom coming in yelling at me to hurry up for school but I don't even get annoyed from it. First thing I do before getting out of the bed and grabbing my phone that laid next to me all night.
Paxton and I ended up talking all night until I knocked out which I definitely am not mad about. Even though we're broken up for the time being, just knowing we'll always care for each other and that he'll have my back makes me so happy and if anything, in more love with him. But no, we have to fix our problems in order for us to be happy together with no problems.
I unlock my phone to check if I have gotten any notifcations but nothing so far so I quickly get off bed and get ready for school. I wonder what I should wear today...
