Attack

Nikki's POV

Before anyone can react. The huge beasts come crashing into us. I finally get a clear view. Bears seven very large bears. Mothers scramble to find their cubs who have scattered. Men shift to defend.

"Hide Courtney!" I yell as I shift to charge into the fray. Then I see Ruby. She's frozen in fear her ears flat against her head and she's growling weakly. She's right in the path of a bear. I race to her rescue but a female wolf dashes from behind me and snatches Ruby up by her scruff. I change my objective and launch myself landing on the bears back. I bite and claw at it distracting it from the white furred she wolf who has my baby and the other mothers who are rescuing their cubs. The grizzly finally shakes me loose I hit the ground the air knocked out of me. The bear turns on me. I see Yennefer coming to my aide.

"No Yennefer." I try to make her stop. She's not listening. She gets between me and the bear. I hear her gentle voice.

"Please listen we didn't take your cubs. Those humans did." She keeps repeating over and over.

Shamus's POV

It worked like a charm. The wolves are to busy with my little gift to notice me. I move quickly. I toss a smoke bomb through the window. It's full of tranquilizer. I wait a moment for it to work. Then I enter without any interference. Entering the room I find her fast asleep with three cubs. So cute I think sarcastically. I inch carefully up to the bed. I grin as I cover her nose and mouth with an ether drench cloth. Her sleep deepens. I open the window my boys are there waiting. They help me move my prize to one of the snowmobiles. Something bites at my leg. I laugh quietly. It's one of the bitches cubs. I shake him off and give him a solid kick. He yelps as he hits the side of the house. I signal my boys to take off. I start the engine and follow behind. At the cabin it only takes moments to load our prize catch into the truck and of course my new pet panthers. We leave the dying male cat behind. He has served his purpose. The council are annoyed the wolves gave him help and his suffering had given me plenty of amusement. I whistle as I drive. My plan had gone off without a hitch. It will take several hours to reach my more permanent hideout. It will take awhile before the freaks find me. It should give me plenty of time to play with the bitch. I'm finally getting my revenge. One of their woman for the ones I've lost.

Nikki's POV

Yennefer's words seem to sink in. The bears slowly calm. In the silence we hear cries. The bears lumber towards the sounds. The others wait patiently for their return. I have to find my Courtney. She had been sick after Nicole's bite. I sniff around. I feel like I've looked everywhere. Where is she? I begin to panic. I feel a nuzzle to my shoulder. I turn to see the she wolf that had rescued my baby. Ruby rides sprawled on her back. I look into her beautiful blue eyes.

"Court." I yip happily. I'd recognize her eyes anywhere. Jason notices us. He bounces forward and play bows to Courtney.

"I knew I scented wolf the other day." He barks.

Our pack mates finally calm down enough to finally notice the new wolf in their mists. They throw back their heads and howl giving her a proper welcome.

"Welcome sister wolf. Welcome Courtney!"

"Welcome my beautiful wife." I lick her muzzle.

Jake calls our attention back to the bears.

They enter our homestead quietly this time. The cubs ride on one of the males backs. The bear I now know is a female comes forward. She shifts in front of us. She has beautiful dark brown eyes and hair. Her skin is light brown. Her body is toned though she is carrying extra weight.

Jake and Yennefer shift to be able to speak with her.

"My name is Lana. I am sorry. Men came into our den during our long sleep and took our cubs. We woke to their cries. They lead us here. I hope we didn't harm anyone in our mistaken rage." She apologizes.

"No we are all in one piece." Jake excepts her apology.

We hear an anguish cry coming from behind Jason's home. My heart sinks to the pit of my stomach. I race to the sound of the cries with the others on my heals. We find Tom on his knees holding his little boy. He's so still and limp.

"Let me through." Nyx shoves her way through her fellow wolves. She touches the boy softly. "Tom he's not dead. He will be ok." Nyx reassures.

"Nooo Nicole is gone." Jason howls distraught. His change is immediate. He is going berserk. Tom hands his son to Nyx and shifts with a roar. I feel the shift as the rage builds. I feel Jake try to stop us. I break free with ease. My mind is slipping. I see red as I charge forward. I smell his stench. "Shamus Chasen," I howl. "Kill him, blood him," I chant as I trail the filthy fuck. Coming to a cabin I circle it. "Where is he?" I roar with frustration. "Kill him, blood him, filthy fuck, filthy fuck." I screech into the night. Feel sting, blackness.

Rick's POV

"Sorry man it was for your own good." I apologize to Nikki as I watch him sink to the ground. I had got the other two further up the trail.

"Damn that was a good shot." Sean compliments.

"Thanks, you know it's Ranger Rick to the rescue." I laugh. Nate pulls up in my pickup and jumps out to help.

"You're just in time. Let's get them back home before they wake up. I have no desire to go toe to toe with any of them." Sean admits with a nervous chuckle. We roll them on to stretchers and cover them up for the ride home in the back of my truck with the cat shifter we found.

"Your mate is going to be busy with two patients. Poor little Tom I'm relieved he's going to be ok. Damn They really messed up that cat." I comment as we get in to make the drive back home.

"Do you think they may have to restrain Mr Sixx. I could hear his mind a couple miles away. I thought my Dad was scary as a berserker. Nikki is terrifying." Nate whispers like he's afraid he might wake the guy up.

"I think Jake is hoping their women will be able to keep them calm." I answer.

"But Nikki is going through the mate bond with a pregnant mate. His mind is as my wife would say twitterpated" he makes a joke to lighten the mood then gives up. "He's already volatile under normal conditions. Now she's been taken. He's dangerous. That hunter thinks he's clever, but he's lit a match under a powderkeg." Sean huffs.
