Glen's POV

"Celine I need your help." I plead.

"Glen I don't want to be here. What if my son sees me? He thinks I'm dead." She groans.

"You are the only one who knows the history and lore. You know about these kind of vampires." I sigh.

"I told you they were real." She grouches.

"I should have believed you. They just seemed so unreal at the time." I confess.

"More unreal than the creatures you have already seen." She laughs sarcastically.

"Ok sister you got me there." I chuckle.

"I told both you and father that this place didn't seem right, but you both decided to build here." She gives me a filthy look.

"To be fair you were only 15 years old." I huff.

"Who had also been studying our lore and history for 5 years." She says her voiced raised.

"Fine you were right, I was wrong. Now please help me get this vampire hive out of my backyard." I moan, telling your sister she was right is kinda painful.

"You know you could have just asked Shamus." She says with a shrug.

"Ask me what Uncle?" Shamus asks as he walks through the door. Hoping he doesn't recognize his aging mother would be to much to ask for wouldn't it I groan again.
"Mama you're alive." He says hushed.

"Shamus I..." She whispers not sure what to say.

"Why did you leave me?" He moans with emotional pain.

"She had no choice Shamus your father would have killed her. He wouldn't have believed the berserker hadn't raped her." I say getting between him and my sister. The things his father had taught him makes me wary.

"Why didn't you come back for me?" He asks.

"I thought you would have hated me too." My sister weeps.

  "Never Mama." He answers.

"Shamus I took a wolf as a mate." She confesses to her son.

"I could never hate you Mama. Does your mate treat you good and make you happy?" Shamus whispers.

  "Yes he does." She answers.

"Good you deserved to be happy after my father." He sighs his eyes closed. Then he looks me in the eyes.
"Glen you knew the whole time that my mother was alive and didn't tell me Why lie to me?"

"I was protecting my baby sister." I say softly.

"Yes I would do the same." He comments.

"I know you would Shamus." I say and rest my hand on his shoulder.
"Shamus your baby niece has been safe with your mother." He looks at me and nearly weeps. He sucks it up quickly.

"God I have gone soft." He laughs at himself.

Something comes to me again that I had shrugged off earlier. Shamus's preoccupation and his show of obedience to the queen today after the battle.

"Shamus have you missed doses of the herbal capsules we give out as a tonic against wolf bites and scratches becoming in infected."

"Yes I ran out before I captured Nicole. I started taking them again when I returned home." He answers.

"She got to you. Maybe it's a good thing. I like this you so much better." I grin.

"What do you mean got to me"? He asks irritated. His eyes light up
