As I walked in the house I heard Mason's car drive away. Why was it that when he left I all if a sudden felt lonely again? I shook it off. On the table in the hall I saw a note. I picked it up and realized it was just chores. That meant the two idiots were already in bed and asleep. I finally had some time to my self.

I walked quietly up the steps to the third floor. I was planning to visit the storage room that held all of my mothers stuff. I fit the key into the door and opened it. I knew what I wanted.

Flashback

I am three years old and sitting in my mom and dad s room. My mom had on a strapless long black dress that fit her perfect hourglass shape. She wore a diamond necklace and matching earrings.

"How long will you and daddy be at the singing place?"

"You mean the opera?" My mother's tender hazel eyes looked at me with a glint of happiness. "We'll be back before you go to bed I promise!"

"Can I hear the song? Please?" I was referring to a music box that my mother had gotten from Japan when she was 12. It was encrusted with a cherry blossom and it was hickory. It was absolutely gorgeous and I loved it.

"Of course! But only if you'll sing along with me." My mother pulled out the small box and wound it up. We began to sing in harmony.

Come, let's forget that future

that is becoming smeared with blood again.

If a warm wind curls into a spiral,

that is probably a sign.

Escape, escape,

from this sorrowful fate.

You are not a flower of Naraku.

In that kind of place

Don't bloom there, don't bloom there

Don't let them ensnare you.

Shards of time fly by without a sound.

Who is grasping my hand?

Who is stroking my hair?

Now, in the crying sprouts,

I can feel the signal.

Fly away, fly away,

from the wheels of fate.

You are not a flower of Naraku.

In that kind of place,

don't scatter your petals, don't scatter your petals,

and don't sow your seeds.

Everchanging karma spreads its seeds once more.

Escape, escape,

from this sorrowful fate.

You are not a flower of Naraku.

In that kind of place

Don't bloom there, don't bloom there

Don't let them ensnare you.

Shards of time fly by without a sound.

Reality

I had absentmindedly wound up the music box and hasn't noticed the tears rolling down my cheeks as it sang its sorrowful lullaby.

Mason POV

I walked into my house and sat down on the couch. I sighed. This couldn't be happening. I was NOT falling in love with the girl I just became friends with 5 hours ago. My dad walked in the living room with newspaper in hand.

"Hey dad?"

"What's up son? By the way your mother told me about the fight. I believe you, trust me. Nice job. You treated that girl how she should've been." My dad's mustache moved up and down.

"Thanks. So, say that you've just met someone, but there's just something about them that you want to stay with you. Like, they walk away, but you want them to come back. What's that called?" I was hoping he didn't say the L word.

"That my boy is called love." Oh crap this wasn't happening. "So who's the lucky girl?" I didn't want to say. I just met Destiny basically. He would think I was delusional.

"Destiny Harper." Idiot! Why did you just tell him that?!

" Ah, I see. She the one you stood up for? No wait! She's the girl that you always hated!" My dad sounded confused. I should clear some things up with him. This is how my dad gave me the "Fools Guide to Falling in Love With Your Best girl-friend.
