The Argument and the Nightmare

Serafina woke up with a gasp, "The same nightmare," she said looking around. "Why do I keep getting the same dream?" She gets up and swims to the door. Then she heard voices. It had to be her mother and uncle Vallero arguing on the other side of the door. "Uh oh," she whispers and stops.

"Vallero please! I am not sure we should start a war with Ondalina. Astrid, if you remember, is Serafina's best friend!" shouts Isabella swimming back and forth. "It will tear Serafina apart do you want that!"

"No, but you know what Kolfinn did. He broke the treaty!" thunders Vallero, "Isabella listen to me! You need to start a war!"

"No! Think about your niece! Her dokimi is today do you really want her to hear this terrible news? Just let me think about this...." Isabella looks at Serafina's door. Serafina was shocked and confused why did Kolfinn break the treaty and why did her uncle wanted to start a war? She wanted to find out so she swam outside. She looked at them.

"Good morning mother. Are you having a good day so far?" asked Searfina fake smiling.

"No. Your uncle is giving me a hard time today," replies Isabella sighing.

"I wonder why? Oh yes uncle wants to start a war with Astrid's realm!" Serafina shouts at uncle. "Oh great Neria don't do it! Are you out of your mind?"

"Oh. so you heard" says Vallero looking at Isabella.

"Yes I heard! Don't do it!" shouts Serafina.

"See, I told you Vallero. Now look at what you done." says Isabella looking at her brother. Vallero sighs and swims off. "Serafina I'm sorry you had to hear that. I was trying to defend you by telling him not to start a war. It's okay."

"But.....why?" asks Serafina now crying.

"Kolfinn broke the treaty Miromara and Ondalina agreed to many years ago. It has made your uncle mad, but I won't allow him to start a war. You must understand that" said Isabella hugging Serafina.

"I do mother........I have to tell you something" says Serafina thinking about the nightmare.

"What is it?" asks Isabella as they enter Serafina's room. She closes the door and sits Serafina down.

"Do you remember the stories you told me about the river witches?" asks Serafina

"Yes why?" asks Isabella

"Well, I've been having nightmares about them. It's like they want me to come to them." explains Serafina.

"The river witches are not real. I just told you those stories so you would behave." says Isabella

"Well it seems real. Oh well" Serafina says sighing and sees a Travia come in.

"Your breakfast is ready Principessa," says Travia. "Come on now"

"Okay...." says Serafina frowning. She gets up and swims to her.

"Well Serafina, I have a realm to rule. Good bye my darling," says Isabella and she kisses her forehead.

"Good bye mom..." Serafina says and she sees her mother leave. Her mom always had a realm to rule. She is the regina after all, but she hardly spent time with Serafina. Serafina shook the thought and started swimming to her court. Where she will be practicing for her dokímí the judgment that sees if she is fit to be regina and is truly of the blood of Merrow. Serafina wanted to please her mother, but she was still troubled by her uncle who wanted to start a war with her friend's realm. She was so troubled and nervous. Astrid was going to visit soon. Maybe she will understand. About the nightmare and about the argument......
