Chapter Six ~Finding Answers~

Soon, we were knee deep in books at a local library. Sunshade said if we could learn a bit about Hisakata and Hunter's family and relations, then we might be able to figure out how to save her. At the moment, i was looking through a family history book about Fairway. Sunshade was nearby, and my friends and Horatio were searching in other shelves farther away.

Sunshade broke the silence: "I hear Horatio already told you about the secret."

I nod. "It seems so strange that here you all have a different way of being close to dragons," i say.

"Ever since we started living here and became allied upon the dragons behalf, we became part of the dragon ways," Sunshade says. "The Dragon is part of our lives." She smiles.

When i see smiles like that, i knew there was more to a story. So i looked at her, trying to get her to continue. Sunshade's smile grew.

"I first met Hisakata in the palace," she said. "I was young, and my mother was a servant to the princess. She grew ill, and i had to take her place for a few days so she didn't lose her job. Hisakata's father was scary, with how large of a dragon he was he could've swallowed me whole as i told him mother's condition. Hisakata's mother was small, very collected, and didn't raise herself up to appear taller than her subjects as her husband did.

"I met Hunter first, in the halls of the palace going towards Hisakata's room. I told him his father was scary, and he said 'Yeah, every servant says that, but i never see him to be sure.' Apparently, children are not allowed to see their parents until they master their dragon form.

"He was (is) close to Hisakata, but at the moment, he was busy trying to learn about the guard. Hisakata wanted to see her mother, so she was trying to get her dragon form to be able to be with her parents, to see them. We were only 7, so there was no way she could master her dragon form. After age 10, signs show that you can start trying for a dragon form. It is extremely rare to master the dragon before age 10.

"It almost shocked me to see Hisakata, looking so beautiful that the stars could admire her. She was nothing compared to her brother, being the future heir. She was working on putting up her jewels when i came into her room. I didn't knock, and i inwardly kicked myself for not knocking. Mother said the princess hated servants barging in without knocking. I closed my eyes, braced myself for a scolding after i apologized, but none came. When i reopened them, Hisakata was just standing there, looking very confused.

"She asked where her servant was, and i told her that she's sick. I was going to be her stand in. Hisakata didn't say anything, and then she said she was just putting her things away so her servant didn't have to do anything. She said it seemed wrong to just let the servant do it all. I questioned myself if my mother actually didn't work, but she did mention that she couldn't reach the top part of the walls to dust them, which was the only job i heard of my mother having. I told her that i was here to help, and so we got down to it. With a bit of team work, we dusted the whole room, tidying it up.

"I don't know what happened since then, but Hisakata and i became fast friends. We didn't let her parents know, because i heard her father didn't appreciate his daughter becoming friends with servants."

It was quite a story, i thought. Hisakata and Sunshade sounded like great friends, so i knew how hard it was on her as well to find her friend missing. I opened my mouth to ask if Hisakata finally mastered her dragon, and Sunshade beat me to the point.

"No, she hasn't mastered the dragon yet," Sunshade replied, laughing. "She's almost got it mastered, and it shouldn't be weird that her older brother mastered his dragon before her."

I smiled. The dragon sounded nice, and in the dragon slayer way, i already mastered my dragon. In their way, mastering a dragon means becoming a dragon. I looked at Sunshade once more.

"I can master my dragon too, since some royalty run in my family, but its only when a royal child decides to live a normal life, knowing they cannot become king or queen," Sunshade said. "But i prefer to not master it yet. Being the Dragon Guard leader, i do have a dragon buddy. Yes, its Hunter, but he prefers lending his ideas before mine."

"Well, its obvious, considering he is royalty," i said. "Its how he was raised."

"Yeah, but he wasn't trained in what Hisakata was," Sunshade said. "He didn't want the throne, and neither did Hisakata. Hunter managed to convince her, because he needed her to be the new Queen. If she didn't agree, that no good Fernando would be King, ordering us around." She paused, then she added, "Can i tell you something? Don't tell anyone. Its about the quest."

"Sure..." i said, fairly unsure.

"Well, Horatio and i sent that quest," she said. "I know; we put Fernando on the quest, but if we didn't, he would know something is up. Hunter delivered the quest to many guilds in your area. Fernando would have us punished harshly, seeing the Queen gone. I couldn't have the citizens of Fairway, the citizens i protect, be forced under Fernando's rule. I know he's a bad person, and yet we also have to ask him where Hisakata went. He may know."

I won't deny it; i was speechless. Sunshade, Hunter, and Horatio made that quest without Fernando's permission. Well, Hunter didn't need it regardless. He was royalty, as i said the third time this day.

"Before we ask, though, we need to find her family history book," Sunshade said, once again digging through books. She eventually found a six inch thick book, with Hisakata's last name on it. Her last name of "NightFangs". Sunshade called everyone once she lifted the book from the pile. I could tell it was pretty heavy.

"Hey, you found it!" Gray said, rounding the corner before anyone else. Lucy and Erza appears later with Happy and Horatio behind them.

"We have the book," Sunshade says. "Now to ask that mayor we have."

I could hear the growl in her voice, knowing this may not end well.
