Chapter Seven ("Mayor" Fernando)

Within a few minutes, we headed towards the mayor's office. I could tell that Hunter and Sunshade were not happy. The two were clearly not wanting to question the mayor. Fernando, they said, was a untrustworthy liar, almost spewing 10 lies every 30 seconds. From what i heard from Tom and Falcon, Fernando fought his way to the top without caring about those he hurt deeply within. He didn't even care about the city itself, instead the sheriff was the one (including the guard) who kept the city in order. These days since Hisakata went missing Fernando was more interested in whatever his friend on the phone had to say.

Now, as we stepped inside his office, Fernando was once again on the phone with his mysterious friend. I managed to catch some of the conversation using my enhanced hearing.

"Now you listen: i want her found and taken away," Fernando hissed lowly. "You know the drill: find her, get rid of her or hypnotize her. We need the dragons under us."

"Preferably easy, but without proper direction, we can't make heads or tails of whoever or whatever took off with the princess after we were attacked by fairies," the mysterious person replied. "All i know is she vanished down into the gully..."

"Where you are going to search now," Fernando growled. "Find the princess at any cost!"

"Yes, but you forget that i am King of the Gnomes," the mysterious person answers. "Any person or gnome that dare crosses my path or even angers me in the least face dire punishment. Don't worry about it though: you are nowhere on that list."

"Soon, the Dragon will be ours!" Fernando exclaimed.

Princess... they must have been talking about Hisakata. I felt my blood boil at the thought. Fernando quickly slammed the phone down after he saw us, yet i heard his message back to the Gnome King: "Find Hisakata and destroy her!"

"Ahhh, Fairy Tail Guild Members and the Guard," Fernando greeted. "What brings you here? Looking for more information on Hisakata's disappearance?" He sounded too happy for my understanding. A low growl escaped past my lips when he turned his smug look my way.

"Yes, apparently you might have some information for us," Erza said.

"Cough it up," Gray snarled. Lucy and Happy for once were ready to attack together, like Sunshade and the cat brothers.

"Now, Gray, what's the rude attitude for?" Fernando answers. "Any citizen of Fairway know that any rudeness or anger towards an office official, like me, Mayor, will have dire punishments. I dare not say what happened to the last fellow, but his mind was shattered. Tormented by nightmares of falling floors into black holes... such trama would even kill the little lady here." He motioned towards Lucy.

"I doubt that highly," Lucy hissed. "I've been through way worse than you."
