The rest of the night was painful, the floor was hard and it made your backache badly. You opened your eyes and looked around the cell, not seeing Magnolia anywhere.
"I guess she's already working" you stood up and stretched yourself. Sighing, knowing that you also have to get to work.
"Alright, let's hope I don't run into one of those crazy ass women..." you sighed and walked out of the basement with a bucket of water and a cloth, ready to cleanse the windows. As you started to wipe the windows clean, there was a blood stain which seemed to be fresh. You gulped and wiped it away, shrugging it off. You finished the windows and continued with the floors, where you found a few more fresh blood stains.
"They must've hunted an animal this morning" you continued to wipe the floor clean and stretched yourself as you stood up. You looked around and tried to make an escape plan for you and Magnolia, you were sure that the easiest way out was by pretending to empty and cleanse the bucket.
Yes! That'll do your whole mood swifted to a more excited one, only a day has passed and you were already going to leave with a new friend, although, the escape plan was a little too good to be true.
"Hmm..the head of the Castle isn't stupid, but she isn't very fast either..." you seemed to think a while.
"That's not a way to talk about your Countess now is it?" her voice appeared behind you, how did you not hear her? You turned around and looked up to her, she was adjusting her gloves, which were bloody at the tip of her fingers. You didn't answer and wanted to walk past her, but she stopped you.
"Don't run off now. I want you to clean a room on the other side of the Castle" she looked down at you.
"Sure, if you tell me where it is" you looked away and avoided eye contact. She turned around and walked out to the courtyard, you hurried and followed her with the bucket. The courtyard was all white from the snow, a few bushes were growing in separated spaces and there were staircases to different doors. She took the one in the far back and made sure you were keeping up with her. The tall lady walked up the stairs and led you into a room, the floor had a big pool of blood. You quietly groaned to yourself and kneeled down next to the blood, slowly starting to wipe it off of the floor. Your Countess sat down on her chair and took a big sip from her wine glass, enjoying the sight.
The water was starting to get a little red, so you stood up to get new water.
"There's another bucket right behind you, don't try to always run away, little rat~" she grinned and took a smoke from her long pipe. You felt a small tear roll down your face, this Castle was frustrating.
I can't believe Magnolia had to keep up with them for years... you sighed and got the other bucket, finishing the last few pools of blood.
You groaned and stretched, feeling your back crack each movement.
"Good. You can empty the buckets outside the courtyard. I want you to meet me in the wine room again" she smiled and stood up, taking her wine glass with her. You silently mocked her and punched the air out of frustration. You grabbed the two buckets and went out to the courtyard, giving the bloody water to the plants. You sighed and took a break for a few minutes, inhaling the fresh air, which was just smelling all metallic now. You leaned against the wall that was separating the plants from the path and sighed,
"I knew that this whole Village was crazy, but this is just too much!" you rubbed your face and looked up to the sky, feeling a few snowflakes fall down on your face. You closed your eyes and enjoyed the peace for a while, before hell awaited you on the other side.
