Chapter 42- A Heated Duel

Alexander's POV

There I stood, with Esdeath pressing against my back as the air grew more and more tense. Every second that passed seemed like an eternity, while we both were ready for the other to make a move. Any moment now, this entire area would be a damn battleground.

I could hear her breathing, I could feel her hot breath on my neck. She was waiting for me to make my move or say something. Her arms were still wrapped around me as her chest was still pressed up against my back.

Esdeath: Tell me..... are you ready?

Alexander: Depends, are you?

I couldn't see her, but I knew she was smirking after I said that. I then jumped away as she too jumped back before taking out her rapier. I unsheathed my sword as she instantly rushed at me, causing me to barely parry her first attack. She came at me rapidly, strike followed by strike followed by strike.

Each time I had to parry and block constantly until I saw an opening. I kicked her back before slashing at her, only to have my own blows parried. We were then separated by a wall of ice, summoned by her of course. I summoned my wings on instinct and flew back as spikes launched from the walls at me.

As I put some distance between me and the wall, I took out my bolter and fired at where I sensed Esdeath was. The wall broke little by little until my shots made a hole. Esdeath had dodged before my next shot could hit her. In retaliation, she launched a barrage of ice spikes at me. I flew past them, dodging any that were close as I dived at her.

She had no chance to dodge as I crashed into her, tackling her to the ground. The impact knocked our weapons out of our hands, but that didn't keep her from attacking. I was met with a strong punch to the face that actually hurt me and sent me back a bit. Esdeath sprung up and kicked me back further, still smilingly insanely.

Esdeath: "Come on! Give me more! More!" she yelled before raising ice spikes from the ground toward me

As the spikes got closer, I released a psychic shockwave that broke them to pieces. I then launched myself at Esdeath before punching her directly in the stomach. Knocking the wind out of her, I then roundhouse kicked her into a tree. Her strength has improved and she's seemingly getting stronger every single day.

Alexander: You've been getting stronger

Esdeath: "Of course I have, I need to be able to go toe to toe with you" she said while getting up "I can't just rely on my trump card, I need to get better in every single way possible"

Little does she know that her trump card doesn't work on me.....

Alexander: What are you hoping to accomplish here?

Esdeath: Defeat you, detain you, and make you submit utterly to me

Alexander: Well at least you don't plan on killing me

Esdeath: That's a last resort my love~

Alexander: You know I won't make this easy for you, right?

Esdeath: I know, that's what makes this even better. It makes this so much more fun! Your defiance will make your defeat all the more satisfying~

Alexander: You're crazy, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't fucking love you

Esdeath: Come on then! Let's see how much you'll try and defy me~

Alexander: If you insist.....

Within an instant I shot out a powerful arc of biolightning at her. In response she rose a wall of ice up in front of her, but I sprung up above quickly. Once I was above her, I shot a molten beam of blazing energy from my hands at her. She launched a series of spikes at me while also bringing up a curved ice structure.
