It was morning at camp, Haley was excitedly calling her mom, waiting for someone.
Haley: C'mon, please answer it.
Andrea answered the phone.
Andrea: Nǐ hǎo, this is Andrea Zhao Jacobs, and you've reached apartment 300 in  Middletown, Rhode Island, how may I help you?
Haley: Māmā!!!!! Is bàba home?!?!
Andrea: No my xióngmāo, your bàba isn't home yet.
Haley: But you said he'd be home this weekend.
Andrea: Sorry qīn'ài de, but I thought he'd be hear by now, he must have not arrived in Rhode Island yet.
Haley: Is he still in Oregon?
Andrea: I've tried calling him several times, but he hasn't answered, I'm sorry my little xióngmāo, but I guess bàba isn't coming home.
Haley: Xièxiè māmā, zàijiàn. *hangs up*
Haley then covered herself in blankets, completely upset.
Haley: Why bàba? I know you're always busy all the time, but I wanna see you for your birthday.
Someone knocked on her door, but she was hesitant to get it, so she walked to the door slowly to answer it.

It was Alice, who had two invitations to the Rainbows Mall.

Alice: So? Would you like to go with me?
Haley: I mean, today's my dad's birthday, and I wanna give him the best gift ever.

Haley: Xièxiè Alice, you see, I don't get to see my dad around that often, he's a private security guard, he does a lot of traveling the US and he's currently in Oregon, I had to stay in Rhode Island with my mom at my nana's apartment, my mom said staying in one place and not moving all the time would keep my relationships and friendships stable, which were mostly in Rhode Island, if it wasn't for my mom then I wouldn't have come to camp or met you guys.
Alice: Great, let's go and get you that gift.
The two went to the Rainbows Mall, which was filled with creatures on the island, ghosts, yetis, aliens, monsters, witches, and elves alike.
Alice: This place is so huge.
Haley: Yeah.
The two found an antique store that they went into and found a priceless Chinese flower themed vase.
Haley: Woah!!!!!!
The shop was owned by a large family of elves as Haley talked to one at the counter, asking about the vase.
Haley: Excuse me, I came here to get a gift for my dad, and I'd like this vase.
Counter elf: Well, that's not for sale, but we are having a competition and that is the prize.
Haley: Awesome, I'd like to enter this competition.
Counter elf: Perfect, good luck to you and your partner in the shopping cart rally.
Haley: Partner? Shopping cart rally?
Counter elf: Yeah, the Rainbows Mall hosts this shopping cart rally for a prize every year given out by one of the stores, this year's shopping cart rally is hosted by our amazing store, you see, the Castillo family of elves have run this store for thousands of years, that's why this place is called Castillo's Antiques.
Haley: We'd be honored to participate.
Counter elf: But who'll be your partner?
Alice: I'll be her partner, Haley here really misses her father and wants to get him a gift for his birthday really bad.
Counter elf: Cool, I'm Louie by the way, my grandma runs this place.
Haley: Thanks Louie.
Louie: No problem.
Haley and Alice practiced for the shopping cart rally by Haley pushing around a shopping cart with Alice in it.
Alice: Woooooo!!!! With this speed you're sure to win the shopping cart rally!!!!!!!
Haley: Thanks, bit if we're really gonna win, we're gonna need some energy.
The two went to the Rainbows Mall food court and found out they served ice cream.
Hakey: One cookie dough ice cream qǐng.
Alice: I'll take as much Peppermint Occasion as you're allowed to give me.
Haley: Peppermint Occasion? Didn't that give you a massive brain freeze last time?
Alice: That was brain freeze on a snow day, this is summer weather.
The two consumed their ice cream as the shopping cart rally was about to begin.
Everyone in the rally was set up, except for a Yeti and elf duo.
Haley: Alice look.
Alice: A yeti and an elf , amazing.
Yeti: Thanks for the compliment, I'm Baritone and this is my partner Finn.
Finn: Hello.
Haley: I guess you're here for the vase.
Baritone: I came to get it for my family.
Haley: Well I want to give it to my dad for his birthday.
An alien came up to the contestants to explain the shopping cart rally.
Alien: Attention contestants, I'm here to explain the rules of the shopping cart rally, the rules are simple, shopping carts will be going through this path of the Rainbows Mall to avoid any damage to property like last year, to other way to get out is to have your shopping cart destroyed, that's what the partner is for, both to check your shopping cart's dame and to protect from attacks, whoever makes it out wins this year's prize, a vase made by Castillo's.
Haley: You ready to win Alice? Alice? Hello Alice?
Alice, after consuming the Peppermint Occasion, had gone completely coo coo, hey eyes getting bigger and more insane.
Haley: Gāisǐ de Alice!!!!!
Alien: 3! 2! 1! Begin the rally!!!!!
The rally started, Baritone demolishing several contestants.
Haley: Ah!!!!!! Qù qù qù qù qù!!!!!!
Haley pushed her cart as fast as she could, despite her partner being out of her element.
Haley: Woo!!!! We're gonna make it!!!!!
Only two pairs of contestants were left, Haley, Alice, Baritone and Finn.
Baritone: You're going down panda.
Haley: Waa waa waa waa, waa waa waa
Baritone: What?
Haley: I thought you could understand yeti, it means look out behind you, you'll get hit.
Baritone: What? There's nothing behind me.
Baritone then gets hit by a sign advertising the new Peppermint Occasion being served at the food court.
Baritone: Ow!!!!
He got knocked off the path, meaning Haley and Alice had won.
Haley: Alice we won!!!
Alice: Woo!!!! *passes out*
Finn: She must have suffered through a massive brain freeze, Peppermint Occasion isn't the best when witches consume too much.
Haley: Oh.
Alien: Congratulations miss, here's your prize. *gives her the vase*
Haley: Thanks.
Haley looks at Baritone and Finn and then looks at the vase.
Haley: Here, you said this was for your family right?
Baritone: Yeah, I was adopted by an elf family, the Castillo family to be specifically.
Haley: You're a Castillo.
Baritone: Yeah, Finn here is my father.
Finn: Thank you very much.
Haley: *teary eyed* No problem.
Baritone: Hmm.
Finn: Hmm.
Baritone and Finn went to give Hakey something.
Baritone: I know how it feels to have a great father, so Finn and I will give you this.
The two gave her a small Chinese butterfly to give to her father.
Back at Haley's cabin, Alice was finished recovering from the brain freeze and wanted to talk to Haley.
Alice: Haley.
Haley: Hey Alice.
Alice: Did you get the gift for your dad?
Haley: I got the vase, but I did the right thing and gave it to Baritone and Finn, so they gave me a butterfly, I just sent it to UMPS to give to my dad when he gets home.
Alice: Haley? What's your dad like?
Haley: My dad.... he's.... well....he's hard to explain, back when my dad was around, he did know Chinese like my mom, he even turned pop songs on the radio into Chinese songs via translation.
Alice: Heheheh, my daddy loved to sing too, he always sang off key, but I always sang along because I enjoyed it.
Haley: Wow, your dad sounds great, I wish I would've known my dad as much as you do.
Alice: I know, I miss him while I'm here.
Haley: Can you miss someone you barely knew.
The two hugged as the sun lowered down, watching them.
Later, Haley's phone went off before the sound of the answering machine went off.
Answering machine: Jūgōng, xiǎoniū, wa ó!

The message was from Haley's dad, who just arrived home.
Haley's dad: Nǐ hǎo hǎi lì, zhè shì bàba, wǒ shōu dàole nǐ de lǐwù, wǒ hěn xǐhuān!! Fēicháng gǎnxiè, wǒ ài nǐ wǒ qīn'ài dì hǎi lì!!!! Wǒ xīwàng nǐ yǒu yīgè měihǎo de xiàtiān, zàijiàn hǎi lì!!!!!!!!
