It was in the month of November when Jungkook found himself rushing down the stairs one morning at the urgent call of his Hyung.
"The toaster isn't working again. Please fix it for me while I go get dressed" The man said to him once he had arrived in the kitchen.
"Yes Hyung" He nodded obediently as the man rushed past him to go back up the stairs to get dressed for work. Jungkook got right to it in trying to fix the toaster again, as he'd always have to do every morning. His Hyung never seemed to know how to get it to work. Soon enough, he was finished and had laid out some toast with scrambled eggs for his Hyung. He looked down at his work and felt proud that he was once again able to do something for his Hyung.
It was Jungkook's third month staying with his Hyung ever since the night of his 18th birthday. The man on the train that had been watching him had been aware that something was wrong when the train had stopped and the boy didn't get up. He had checked the boy's pulse and could barely find a beat. It was then that he had noticed the boy's bloody and muddy clothes. He had rushed him to the hospital soon after and there he paid for the treatment of the boy's wounds and any sort of medication that he'd need. Apparently, the boy had needed dire help. The gash on his arm had been deep and had gotten infected along with a few other cuts and bruises that adorned his body. His nose had been broken and had started healing the wrong way. It was the same for one of his arms, it seemed to have been broken a good while back and had been healing the wrong way, rupturing a few blood vessels and tissues that were trying to heal. His ankle had also been twisted and had to be set aright and wrapped for healing. And let's not forget the concussion that the boy had gotten.
When Jungkook had been brought back to consciousness after three days of being in the hospital, the man was there by his side, ready to explain where he was and all that had happened and how he would take care of him. Of course, the questions followed soon after, not just from his Hyung, but also from the police. Seeing a young boy injured and covered in blood was not something that could just be ignored. The boy could have been a murderer for all they knew, but for some reason, the man had thought otherwise.
Jungkook had explained to the man and the police about what had happened at the orphanage. Everything from the abuse and the absurd treatments and traditions, right down to the night his best friend died. He had left out the parts about Jimin though, he didn't think they needed to know that. He wanted to keep Jimin and all thoughts of him to himself. Jimin was for him and him alone.
The police had gotten in contact with Busan police and had requested for an investigation of the area but the results came back with nothing to prove that anything Jungkook had said had been true. Of course, it frustrated the boy, knowing that the persons at the orphanage would have already cleaned up their mess and were ready to pay any amount of money to keep anyone quiet. Jungkook nearly cried when the police kept questioning him because they now didn't believe his story. Eventually, they found nothing to prove him guilty of any crime, plus Jungkook had seemed very convinced of the story he was telling so the officers really had no other choice but to let him go and hope that he didn't bring any danger to their city, Seoul.
His Hyung had taken him to his house soon after he was discharged. He had believed what Jungkook had said about the orphanage, he didn't know why but he just felt like the boy would have no reason to lie to him. It wasn't right to blindly trust others like that but the man just couldn't help it. Jungkook seemed too innocent, too lost, too damaged, to have any evil intent towards him. He had seen the boy's self-harm cuts all over his body when he was back at the hospital. The man figured that the boy was a danger to no one but himself. Consequently, he had told Jungkook that he was allowed to stay with him until he was able to get on his feet and build a life for himself. He didn't know why but he had promised Jungkook his utmost support and devotion and Jungkook couldn't be happier that finally someone had decided that he was worth spending time on, that he was worth helping. Someone other than Ishi and...Jimin...
